Hillary In 2012? Two Scenarios Expose Democratic Disarray
FoxNews ^ | September 26, 2011 | Michael Goodwin

With poll after poll showing President Obama’s prospects sinking along with the economy, wild scenarios suddenly pop up in conversations. Some Democratss, for example, believe there is a small but growing chance the president will pull a Lyndon Johnson and decide not to seek re-election.

Then there’s the perennial Hillary guessing game. Actually, there are two Hillary guessing games.

The first, and more likely, is that the secretary of state would switch jobs with Vice President Joe Biden and take his place on the ticket. The White House denied that idea when it initially emerged, saying Obama already told Biden he wanted him to run for a second term and the veep accepted.

But that was months ago, before Solyndra and other scandals appeared and the economy fell off a cliff and took Obama with it.

The second Hillary scenario mentioned is that she would challenge Obama in a primary. She quickly spiked that one, telling friends no Democrat could win the general election without the black vote, and so even a successful primary challenge would lead to her defeat in November.

That convinced me the door was closed on 2012. But then Bill Clinton surfaced last week, and the former president pushed the Hillary door open a crack by saying some decidedly unflattering things about Obama’s various proposals to raise taxes and cut the deficit.

If Dems had half a brain, they’d run with Hillary-—why stick with Obama?

Lucky for the DEMS, the GOP is in disarray as well.

It did seem that BJ was opening the door for a Hillary challenge, but then, BJ went golfing with The One over the weekend. Maybe, BJ was advising The One that he cannot win reelection with his approval now in the 30s.

Dems dumping Obama for Hilary has been my worst nightmare. She is only marginally more qualified and only slightly less liberal than Obama, but if she was to be the Dem nominee, she would be a very formidable candidate and the same gullible fools who bought Obama would probably line up behind her.

The only real negative for Democrats is the negative reaction within the black community. They might not forgive the Democrats for dumping Obama and stay at home in the election.

At this point I would even take Bill back. (He DID leave us with a balanced budget)

But we would need another Newt in Congress to make it happen- and Boner is no Newt

Yep.

In the MSNBC debate, Williams and Co tried to get the GOP wannabes fighting amongst themselves. MSNBC failed.

CNN had better luck and got them firing shots. FoxNews got them to continue sniping at each other.

So far, the Media have been winning the GOP debates, as the GOP contenders shoot each other in the foot.

I don’t think the MSM has anything to do with it. The quality of the candidates is the issue.

Even in the general election, Hillary would have to run against liberalism.

It’s all been tried, and it has all failed under Obama.

How does she garner the socialist Dem base, let alone the black vote? Does she defend Keynesianism and Obama care?

I don’t think she runs in a political climate that’s not good for any Democrat.

Deal was struck with ham hocks and zero during the primary 2008 and the Clinton/zero golf outing resently. It was to seal the deal. The progressive movement is a slow paced patient transformation. Ham hocks agreed to get some foreign policy experience aside from just being the former presidents wife so she could corner the market and have one up on all the GOP contenders. Zero was to break ground. I believe he will bow out due to ficticious health reasons Bubba will set him up at the UN so he could be president of the world, ham hocks will run and promise to set things straight and rally the independents. She is doing much of what Palin seems to be doing waiting for the opportunity. Ham hocks will enter the race soon after Palin does.

he quality of the candidates is the issue.

I have agreed with that since GHWB ran.

This is the best you [GOP] got: GHWB, Dole, GWB [2nd term disaster], McCain?

Too much sour milk and too little cream.

Yes, but there were budgetary tricks, including some games with Social Security, shortening the maturity of Treasury debt, spending the "peace dividend." And, he also left us with an enraged Al Qaeda after the aspirin factory bombing and let Osama live even when he was in our sights.

All true, but many within the black community are buoyed by Obama's being President. They would experience a natural emotional deflation if he was to step aside for any reason.

I do not think they would turn out in support of any other candidate as they did for Obama. Even given the disenchantment, there is an emotional pull that Obama has and that no white candidate could duplicate. The only question is, would that be crippling for the Dem alternative?

40% of the country will vote for anyone with a (D) after their name on a ballot. Democrat strategy then is to pick up an additional 11% through moderates. This won’t work this time. So, they have to run their candidate(s) in the Republican party. Their candidate(s) will talk tough on finances and be easy on morality. The idea is to dishearten the social conservatives and allow the Democrat to win.

If the dems ran Hillary, they would most definately have to work something out with Obama to save the black vote. Either have him drop out for family reasons or whatever, but to gain the black vote, he’d have to endorse hillary or something. It would all rest on Obama whether Hillary would stand a chance.
