Ailes: Palin Was a ‘Branding Issue’
DailyBeast ^ | 09/26/11 | staff

Could Fox News be moving away from the right? As the Tea Party's popularity fades and the country grows increasingly tired of partisan bickering, Fox News chief Roger Ailes is making what he calls a “course correction.” Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin “became a bit of a branding issue for us,” he tells Howard Kurtz in Newsweek. Republican candidates still consult Ailes: when Rick Perry was still weighing a presidential bid, he stopped by Ailes's office and confided he was worried about being able to raise money, and Mitt Romney took Ailes out for a pasta dinner. But Ailes also engineered the Republican primary debate for maximum reality-television conflict, aiming tough questions geared toward the weaknesses of each candidate and prompting them to tear into each other.

Notice what is and is not in quotes from Ailes.

Nah! Why spoil the fun of assuming that a liberal rag like the "Daily Beast" is fair and accurate. Let's just jump to the worst conclusion possible. Ailes is a RINO!!!!!

Beck wanted to leave Fox and Sarah hasn't. What else does anyone really need to know.

Hanity is the only self professed conservative who has a stand alone show on Faux. And truthfully, there are times I have my doubts about Hanity.

Both of these are wishful thinking.

Could Fox News be moving away from the right? As the Tea Party's popularity fades and the country grows increasingly tired of partisan bickering...
...the partisan media shills will continue to serve up a steady piss-stream of op-eds and other fake news showing that only a small groups of angry, dangerous racists are against a monopartisan political structure.

FOX is a news station. It isn't supposed to promote your candidate. There are lots of overly sensitive people watching FOX and gasping when someone’s eyebrows rise in a curious fashion.

MOST of FOX is UNWATCHABLE!! I do watch The Five but mute it when Beckel talks and Dana PeRINO spouts her squishyness.

We need a REAL Conservative News Channel...

One of my dreams has been for Rush to buy out CNN and change the name to the Conservative News Network. Sadly Rush hasn't listened to me. So far.

Think of the costs alone of having to fumigate the joint... and the exorcisms.

I hate screaming talking heads, so I don’t watch any of the news outlets, including FOX.

Yes let's take a look.

“course correction.”...“became a bit of a branding issue for us,”

Yes, who needs full context when one can invent their own.

I don't want Fox News, so I have no idea what the talkers on their shows are saying. I watched it back in the early 2000s, though. You think the Fox All-Stars would be tea partiers?? Really?

Anyway, I am a big fan of Ailes. I think he's very good at what he does, and I'm always interested in what he has to say. I don't really care for his product, simply because I don't care for television. But I respect Ailes as a creative and successful businessman. I don't appreciate Howie Kurtz at all.

I used to believe some years ago that Fox was fair and balanced, so yes I would have expected that they would include more than just the view points of of the Republican Establishment and the Democrat party. Especially after 2010 elections etc.

Ailes is just part of the “squishy middle” - or the elitest GOP.

I’m sure he shrinks from people like Beck or Palin.

Funny though, he’s a big fan of Rush Limbaugh - at least according to Rush. But .. that doesn’t mean I believe Rush is unaware of Ailes’ “moderate” leanings.
