Some fraternity brothers at the University of Iowa are practicing walking in high heels as they prepare for a march to speak out against sexual assault.
The first local “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event is set for Saturday in Iowa City. More than 100 people are expected to participate in the event, which was brought to campus by the Greek community and sponsored by UI Student Government and Coca-Cola.
While the march is open to women, only men will be wearing high heels as a symbolic way to show support for women...

Besides being sin, these events accomplish nothing whatsoever. Any man who has enough ethics to respond to “Walk in her shoes” campaign, is ALREADY not a rapist. And real criminals are utterly unresponsive to this nonsense. So they pranced around in high heels for NOTHING.
Also... be it noted, there is NO LAW forcing women to wear high heels - and indeed they’d be healthier and sexier if they did NOT. It’s something they do to themselves, it didn’t come from us.

Not such a bad idea, BUT, as mom of boys, I would much rather the boys be courteous and chivalrous to ladies (including annoying sisters and cousins) every day instead of doing a one-time stunt.

It’s a logical fallacy to ask for proof of the “lack” of something (Here, the “something” is sexual assault stopped by awareness.)
The “awareness” concept is a pro-active solution, in that it seeks to stop sexual assault, or murder, or theft, before it can actually be attempted. While you might be able to count the number of sexual assaults stopped by someone carrying a gun, you will never be able to count the amount of sexual assaults stopped by awareness.
I think, according to Occam’s Razor, it’s safe to say that convincing people that committing a crime is a bad idea will cut into the amount times the crime happens.

I wonder what the odds are that you are wearing garments of mixed fabrics as you post. Or ever, actually.
So people walking by or driving past will see these cross dressing guys walking down the street and think to themselves “Wow, I’ve got to start respecting women and not rape them anymore.”
Great cause, great that they raised money, not the best way of doing it.

No, I'm sorry, but you're the one committing the logical fallacy by making a claim and then declaring that you don't have to back it up.
The fact is, the claim is provable -- all you have to show is that places that have run "awareness" campaigns see a statistically significant improvement in the situation as compared to places that have not done "awareness". That gives you an experiment group and a control group, which should prove or disprove the theory with enough collected evidence. You make the claim, you have to back it up -- that's the way logical, reasonable debate works.
But I suspect you won't be able to find the numbers to back it up because they don't exist. "Raising awareness" is a typical liberal feel-good tactic that does nothing while giving the appearance of doing something.
And seriously, how many people are going to be changed by a "rape is bad, ok?" campaign? Every civilized society in the world pretty much has murder, theft, and rape as the three main no-nos in their moral and legal codes to start with
And how well do these demonstrations work? Do you have any proof whatsover that these stunts work better than police work? Do you honestly believe men putting on high heels and clanking down a street for a fundraiser does anything at all towards mitigating violence against women?
That's a far better course of action than dressing up in high heels.
