Obama: Deportation numbers are a "little deceptive"
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/obama-blames-republicans-failure-immigration-reform-says-increase ^ | Sept. 28, 2011 | Rachel Rose Hartman

President Obama on Wednesday urged frustrated Americans to stop blaming him for the standstill on federal immigration reform and to direct their displeasure instead at Republicans in Congress. "The notion that I can somehow just change the laws unilaterally is just not true," Obama told moderators Wednesday during a Hispanic online roundtable-- "Open for Questions"-- hosted by Yahoo!, MSN Latino, AOL Latino and HuffPost LatinoVoices. "The fact of the matter is there are laws on the books I have to enforce. And there is a great disservice done to the cause of getting the Dream Act passed and comprehensive immigration reform passed by perpetuating the notion that somehow by myself I can just go and do these things," Obama said, referring to proposed legislation to provide a path to citizenship for some children of illegal immigrants. The president praised past Republican presidents George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, whom Obama said understood the importance of comprehensive immigration reform. "Right now, you do not have that kind of leadership coming from the Republican party," Obama claimed. Immigration reform is one of the many issues the president will be forced to address as he courts Hispanic voters during his 2012 re-election campaign. The president finds himself in a middle ground, both advocating a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants and acting as the enforcer of current immigration laws. Obama was asked to address an increase in deportations that has occurred during his tenure. He said the numbers are "a little deceptive." Apprehensions at the border are counted as deportations in the reported statistics, Obama said, so the uptick in deportations is caused by "more effective" border control, not by deportations of otherwise law-abiding illegal immigrants. "

Lest any of his Hispanic slaves (er, voters) think Obama is actually trying to enforce the laws.

I post this all the time. The big deportation numbers of 400,000 a year or so. 97% of that number is simply Mexicans caught at the border and sent back (by bus) to Mexico. It is not Jose the habitual drunk driver in Minneapolis being deported back to Mexico. Or a Chinese cook found selling cocaine being deported back to China. Real deportations via airplane are expensive and too much of a hassle for the Federales to arrange. They do happen but rarely.

Too expensive? The Air Force & Navy visit foreign countries all the time. Load the illegals onto the first flight/cruise outta here & drop them off wherever.

It is truly astonishing how small and childish Obama is sounding. He is taking responsibility for nothing. He is a little man, unfit for a big job.

The race, ethnicity, religion, gender and sexuality of legal immigrants? Who gives a crap?

Illegal immigrants? Prosecute employers who knowingly hire them (drags down wages) and deport the illegal.

Additionally, introduce legislation that makes anybody who entered the country illegally for work have no chance at applying for citizenship,

I hope "that kind of leadership" is gone for good. I will give Reagan a break because he was swindled, but GWB should have known better.

Also, this line:

“The fact of the matter is there are laws on the books I have to enforce. And there is a great disservice done to the cause of getting the Dream Act passed and comprehensive immigration reform passed by perpetuating the notion that somehow by myself I can just go and do these things,”

Just makes me wretch. Obama is the president of the US and yet he sounds like he can just barely accept the fact that borders need to be protected.

I think the majority of the GOP would love to push through amnesty and then go on a hispandering binge, but it’s the people who vote for the GOP who won’t allow it.

Did Rick Perry endorse Cong Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill)'s Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act?

BREAKDOWN Over and above the millions who violate our borders, 1.5 million legal foreign workers come to the US each year, as a matter of course.

But this number isn’t high enough for Dem Cong Gutierrez and his 92 co-sponsors. The "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" bill includes a provision called “recapture” that will add up all the supposedly “unused” work visas since 1992 and issue them immediately.

This is a complete fraud, as all unused work visas are rolled over to the family reunification category the next year as it is.

Gutierrez' Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill will create 100,000 visas from countries that send the most illegal immigrants every year. According to the State Department, this will mean 550,000 new foreign workers.

Gutierrez' bill will make it much easier for more illegal aliens to break in. Under the Bill, to prove they have jobs and were in the country BEFORE Congress passed amnesty, illegals are allowed to use stolen ID's, fake green cards, and fraudulent SS numbers....... without fear of prosecution.

==========================================

Mexico facilitates the profitable staging area for Third World and other illegals preparing to violate our borders. The Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill rewards Mexico b/c they calculatedly promote illegal immigration. Contrary to Obama’s claim that CIR bill will increase border security, it does just the opposite.........

<> it guts successful enforcement measures,

<> limits raids on illegal immigrants,

<> prohibits use of troops on the border,

<> replaces E-Verify used to ensure employers hire legal American workers,

<> overturns all state and local US laws that crackdown on illegal immigration,

<> abolishes 287(g) that allows local L/E and federal authorities to apprehend criminal illegals.

Gutierrez and Rick Perry---perfect together.

Let's go with that thought. Who gets a freebie? Rezwan Ferdaus was "otherwise law-abiding," right?

Thank you for this post, had a liberal other week use the “more deportations” argument against me, when I tried to explain this wasn’t true, he wouldn’t listen. Now his god Obama has just confirmed my point. Bookmarked.

Not only is there "deception" in the deportation numbers including border apprehensions, there is even more "deception" in the border apprehension numbers.

Almost all of the border apprehension are merely bused to the very border they already illegally crossed - to walk across to the other side. The vast majority of these "deportations" only cross again illegally within a day or two. Like a revolving door, they will do this again and again until they make it undetected.

Every time the same person is caught and walked back counts as another deportation - and the federal government gets to pad the "deportation" numbers it feeds to a misled public.

... otherwise law-abiding illegal immigrants.

In the QPRM, they're fully law-abiding. AG Martha Coakley: "Technically it's not illegal to be illegal in Massachusetts." Case in point: Auntie EBT, Zero's Aunt Zeituni lives on the dole in the GLBTQ People's Republik of Mass.
