Grassley puts it bluntly: ‘It’s a lie’(gunwalker)
Seattle Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 28 September, 2011 | Dave Workman

When Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley was told in February that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was not allowing guns to cross the border, it wasn’t true and the Justice Department knew it, and he said so in a Monday night interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren.

“It’s a lie.”—Sen. Charles Grassley

In a typically candid eight minute interview, Grassley told Van Sustern that the Justice Department has been “misleading to me,” and that the agency has known all along that Operation Fast and Furious had done exactly what Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich insisted they weren’t doing in his Feb. 4, 2011 letter to the senator.

“At the outset, the allegation described in your January 27 letter – that ATF “sanctioned” or otherwise knowingly allowed the sale of assault weapons to a straw purchaser who then transported them into Mexico – is false.”—Ronald Weich, assistant attorney general

Grassley, who was interviewed by this column last week, is growing more upset every day. According to congressional sources close to the senator’s investigation of Fast and Furious, investigators have interviewed ATF Special Agent David Voth, former supervisor of Group VII in Phoenix, who was discussed by this column on Monday. His name is prominently featured in a new revelation about a separate gun trafficking case involving whistleblower agent John Dodson.

Whether Voth will be asked to appear before Congressman Darrell Issa’s House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform remains to be seen. Voth now appears to be a central figure in the Fast and Furious fiasco, which critics insist can no longer be referred to as a “botched operation” because it now appears the ATF’s plan all along was to let hundreds, if not thousands of guns to flow across the border into Mexico,

We need to keep hammering away at this. Drudge's reluctance to post stories about it is strange.

They are deathly afraid of this one because it is a scandal like none before it....people actually died.

According to the Forbes article, the Mexican DA has a list of over 200 Mexican citizens killed by the guns from this program. Plus a couple US law enforcement men.

Abu Ghraib got 46 straight NYTimes front pages for naked flesh piles and a scary mean dog. How many front pages does 200 dead Mexicans merit?

Grassley’s voice was still changing when he passed 60 years of age.

To answer your question of how many front pages in the NYT do 200 dead Mexicans get? None. The NYT is part of the cover-up conspiracy and not part of the solution.

the u.s. congress are an odd lot.

some of them live in there for decades without much sunlight.

and then all of a sudden, they're on a tv camera.

several years ago senators liebermann and mccain looked like they were in the prenuptial stage.

I suggest the NRA, GOA, etc all get together and run full-page ads in the nation’s major newspapers charging that Obama has blood on his hands.

When those papers try to stop the ads, it will start to get attention.

“Drudge is establishment by now. Fat establishment.”

True...as you know

There was a time when Drudge would be way ahead of the curve on these scandals. Now he is so far behind the curve he can't catch up.

Drudge report is now mostly Hollywood and carnival sideshow stuff.

And it also violated several US Laws...one of them having to do with...need I say it...TREASON!

“They are deathly afraid of this one because it is a scandal like none before it....people actually died.

Too true !
Worse yet - it is International criminality , and thus by their involement , they are subject to International laws of the United Nations , and/or The Hague.

This wasn’t a case of a botched Federal investigation , this was a case of “Fuzzy Thinking” and FUBAR since they are active participants , or supervised it ( DOJ ).

It was a set-up to show that US firearms were being used in Mexico , and would authorize BATF to crackdown on legal gun dealers in the US , and quash the second Amendment rights of lawful American citizens.

Drudge is now read by all the politicals in the beltway, maybe he’s been co-opted ... ?
