Republican senators travel to Libya to meet transition government

Four Republican senators traveled to Libya on Thursday, reports The Associated Press.

Sens. John McCain (Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Mark Kirk (Ill.) and Marco Rubio (Fla.) are expected to meet with members of the governing National Transitional Council and later tour Tripoli's Martyrs's Square.

The senators were strong supporters of President Obama's decision to authorize U.S. involvement in NATO's campaign to oust Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, a move which faced opposition from both Democratic and GOP lawmakers.

Although opposition forces now control the capital and much of the country, fighting has continued and Gadhafi remains on the loose.

No one in the major media is wondering where Khadaffi’s 114 tons of gold is. I wonder if any of Republicans will inquire.

The Battle For Libya Is Almost Over... As Is The Battle For Its 144 Tons Of Gold

Following a 6 month stalemate in which neither side had attained any advantage, it suddenly took just a few days for the Libyan rebel forces to steamroll unopposed into Tripoli. While we are confident that the political aftermath of this outcome will be very much comparable to what is happening in Egypt right now, many wonder why it is that the Libyan situation has progressed with such speed. Perhaps the answer can be found in the 143.8 tons of gold held by the Libyan Central Bank. Granted it is nowhere near close the 366 tons of gold that Venezuela supposedly has per the WGC, most of it likely held offshore and not being repatriated, the question of where the global gold cartel may find some of the much needed physical to satisfy Chavez’ demands has been now answered. Of course we assume that said gold has not already departed Libya in direction Caracas over the past 6 months. Which, in retrospect, we probably should, as it would explain why gold is now at $1875 and rapidly rising.

Lindsey and Juan? Back again so soon?

Why just two years ago they were in Tripoli along with Lieberman, sniveling and groveling to Qadaffi.

Didn’t take Pretty-in-Pink Snoozy Collins this time? Pity. Her curtsey to Qadaffi was so ... cute.

One of those four senators is not like the others (I hope). Why, oh why did Rubio have to go with them?

I can't figure it out. He was so eager to agree with Ubama on the NTC; he was among the first to endorse the "rebels." Along with some other indicators, it doesn't bode well for him to go for any higher office than already attained. Personally, I think he's a big disappointment.

Mark Kirk will soon be issuing a press release claiming he was “deployed” to Libya for his weekend trip and “selflessly dodged enemy fire from Libyan insurgents to protect America’s freedoms”

How much is this costing us. Free Travel throughout the World. Must be nice. In today’s World with VTC technology this travel is very unnecessary. Yes even Libya has VTC capabilities. I can’t imagine that not being the case.

If Rubio wasn’t going with them, it would like a money extraction visit. Then again who ever knows the heart?

Yes, rotten crowd but Rubio is no different. I suspect that he is on Islamofascist payroll. Made one stupid mistake on the record.

>>>>>>Perhaps the answer can be found in the 143.8 tons of gold held by the Libyan Central Bank<<<<<<<

Libya's gold is worth only $6B, yes, six billion dolars. Lunch money. There are 6 billion ounces of gold above earth. Less than 1/1000 is Libyan gold.

It is merely red hering to distract from real heist, some $1T of Libya Sovereign wealth.

The trick is simple - who claim to be Libyan government, he has access to that wealth.

And this has been syphoned off as we speak.

Oil, LNG, phosphates, water need control on the ground. Neither NATO nor their AQ allies have it.

OTOH, Gaddafi can not access Libyan sovereign wealth abroad.

That's what this scam is all about. Once all sovereign wealth is syphoned, NATO will flee and NTC will disappear.

Sort of bank manager giving robber who robbed your house access to your accounts and your safe deposit box and allowing him hefty loan that robeer cashes on the spot. Once dust settles, you are left without any assets and saddled with a loan you did not take.
