ABC News ^ | 9/30/11 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 09/30/2011 7:15:12 PM PDT by Bokababe

Tapper to Carney: "Do you not see at all... does the Administration not see at all how a president asserting that he has the right to kill an American citizen without due process and that he's not going to even explain why he thinks that he has that right, is troublesome to some people?"...

I’m not looking forward to that either but if it comes to that, what the Constitution says will have no bearing on the situation.

“Half President orders hit on Half Citizen”

I like this one. It’s a good headline to make one want to read the story. Have you applied for a headline writer position at the NYT? I’d read your stuff.

"that president better prepared to make his case to the American people to let them know why they are safe and why they aren't also in danger of being next on his list."

Stop whining.

“At the very least, as you point out, Obama owes the country some sort of explanation, an articulation of an Obama “doctrine” if you will, about the power of the Executive to kill Americans.”

I agree. Pres Bush got legal opinions and articulated them before he acted - on Gitmo, on waterboarding.

There was plenty of time here. Awlaki was put on the hit list in 2010. That’s when the Obama position should have been articulated.

As Andrew McCarthy said, if the US government had taped Awlaki’s conversations, they would have had to go before a FISA court prior. To assassinate him their was no review.

All citizens either have a Fifth Amendment, or we don't. This is an awful precedent, especially in the hands of a Marxist.

Agreed.

The guy for all intents and purposes renounced his citizenship, he just didn’t go to an embassy to do it.

I thought of Saul Alinsky when I posted this. “Make them keep their rules. Point out their hypocrisy.” The guy was obviously a bad guy. If this had been Bush the Left would be talking impeachment for blowing up an American citizen. For denying him his due process. Bet we don’t hear a peep out of the ACLU. This is the first time I think we (U.S. Government) have openly killed an American citizen on purpose. And bragged about it.

This is where the rubber meets the road for the ACLU, because apparently they tried to get permission to defend Al Awklawi and were refused. Are they going to pursue it loudly or fall in line with getting Obama re-elected? Hmmmmmm.....

United States Assassinates Anwar the Anchor Baby
Bloggers and Personal ^ | 30 Sep 11 | Xzins
Posted on Friday, September 30, 2011 8:51:51 AM by xzins

The most important thing to know about the “death by drone” of Anwar al-Awlaki is that this is really about citizenship and anchor babies. Anwar, America’s enemy, is a US citizen by virtue of his Yemeni dad pursuing higher education in the US at the time of Anwar’s birth. Anwar was born in New Mexico in April of 1971. That made him a US citizen.

It doesn’t matter that he returned to Yemen and that his parents had no intention of ever becoming US citizens while they lived here. What matters is the address of the hospital in which little Anwar screamed his first breath of defiance.

The truly bizarre is yet to follow. We also trained him. He returned to the US for both undergrad and graduate degrees: civil engineering and education, respectively. Later pursuit of a PhD in human resource development at George Washington University fell short.

This “U.S. Citizen” then set about trying to destroy his so-called “home of birth.”
What’s more, Awlaki’s kids and wife are forever tied to the US. His five children, at least some of whom had to have been born in the US before he departed in 2002, finally arrived in Yemen in 2004 with their parents. Those born in the US while he attended school are doubly US citizens since their dad was a citizen.

As one recent discussion put it: “Each of these babies becomes an anchor who retards deportation of unlawfully present parents—and who eventually will be an anchor for entire families and villages as chain migration leads to the immigration of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.” Bloomberg BusinessWeek

The death of Anwar al-Awlaki is not at all about getting “America’s enemy.” It really is a discussion about “anchor baby citizenship.”

Anchor babies with bombs.

Meanwhile “The Obama administration says attempts to change the U.S. constitutional amendment that grants automatic citizenship to people born in the United States are “just wrong.” http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dcnow/2010/08/obama-administration-slams-attacks-on-birthright-citizenship.html

No one wants to “change the 14th Amendment, Mr President. They simply want folks to acknowledge that anti-American terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki’s parents weren’t “subjects” of the United States. They were Yemenis. Little Anwar wasn’t a subject of the US either.
On the contrary, he was a hater and an enemy

I'd feel the same about killing Al-Awlaki if he was a fifth generation guy from Topeka.

Happy.

I have no problem taking out anyone who tries to kill innocent Americans and is intent on destroying this country.

However, this Dead Anchor Baby might have some impact with the overflow of illegals into America and being set up as wonderful people after they comet into America to have anchor babies.

Self defense is one of Nature’s laws ~ there’s no other argument you need to use when killng AlQaida. They’ve declared war against every person on the planet.

Best bet is for Obama to now round up all who criticize his actions in this case and try them for treason.

Turns out NO ONE had him in custody so he couldn’t be extradited. He was running around loose with guns and everything. He was fair game.

The man was merely born here. He was not a citizen.

Screw the World Court. We don't need no (insert expletive here) World Court.

Ben Ladin was a notorious bandit who'd murdered thousands of people. Any damned fool could see he could not be trusted. Turning him into meat at the first opportunity was not only a wise course of action it was demanded.

Not only were they funny little foreign people THEY WERE HERE LEGALLY ON A FAMILY VISA.

They added him to the visa then they went back home. He grew up in his own country. Never once did he ask to be considered an American citizen.

So now that the left has found that this guy was too dangerous to the US to go on living, are they equally willing to admit that the Fort Hood massacre was an act of outrageous terrorism perpetrated on Obama’s watch?

I didn’t think so.
