NATO Captures Senior Haqqani Leader in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan – NATO captured a senior leader of the Al Qaeda- and Taliban-allied Haqqani network active inside Afghanistan, the alliance said Saturday, describing it as a "significant milestone" in disrupting the terror group's operations.

NATO said Haji Mali Khan was seized Tuesday during an operation in eastern Paktia province's Jani Khel district, which borders Pakistan. It was the most significant capture of a Haqqani leader in Afghanistan, and could dent the group's ability to operate along the porous border with Pakistan's lawless tribal areas.

I don't know if anyone else has been keeping up with the location of US casualties in Afghanistan, but Paktia was one of the calmer regions up until this spring (not a single fatality in the previous nine years), but is now one of the hot spots thanks to this thug and his fellow madmen.

The Oklahoma National Guard's 45th Infantry Brigade (the successor to the famed Thunderbird Division) has suffered 13 fatalities in Paktia Province this year thanks to the Haqqani terrorists.

News said members of Seal Team 6 were involved in the Predator/Reaper strike in Yemen (boots on the ground for targeting and positive ID). Wonder if they also may have been part of the capture of this dirtbag? Looking for payback for the shoot down of the Chinook helo with many of their buddies on board.

If you mean they'll turn him loose, I doubt it. The Haqqani network is controlled by the Pakistani ISI and they want Karzai and his government gone. The Haqqanis are part of the Taliban elite which the Pakistanis will use to control Afghanistan once we get out.
