Harry Reid’s wife diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer (Prayers please)

Landra Reid, the wife of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, has been diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer and is being treated in Washington, DC.

Reid’s office confirmed the diagnosis this morning when I called. Landra Reid is receiving treatment, including chemotherapy. Reid’s folks emphasized that he is by her side but that his work as majority leader will not be compromised.

I hope she recovers and Reid retires to take of her.

God bless her. My wife first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1981. Radical mastectomy left breast. Lumpectomy with chemo right breast 2002. In between she had a brain tumor the size of a plumb removed in 14 hour surgery. Tumor was benign but lost her hearing on that side and has a gold weight in her eyelid so she can close her eye.

She just helped me build a big woodshed and did most of the heavy lifting because I recently had back surgery. Quite a gal. :-)

Stage 2 is far from a death sentence and she should be able to fight it. Lucky for her, Obamacare isn’t in full operation yet so she will be able to get life saving procedures in a timely fashion.

Their marriage is an inspiration to many, they’ve been married since ‘59. Hope Mrs. Reid recovers quickly, let’s pray for wisdom for the doctors and the other medical personnel in her care.

Stage II is divided into subcategories known as IIA and IIB.

Stage IIA describes invasive breast cancer in which:

-no tumor can be found in the breast, but cancer cells are found in the lymph nodes under the arm (axillary) OR

-the tumor measures 2 cm or smaller and has spread to the axillary lymph nodes OR

-the tumor is larger than 2 cm but not larger than 5 cm and has not spread to the axillary lymph nodes

Stage IIB describes invasive breast cancer in which:

-the tumor is larger than 2 cm but no larger than 5 cm and has spread to the axillary lymph nodes OR

-the tumor is larger than 5 cm but has not spread to the axillary lymph nodes
