((snip))

Mexico's government, however, has been opposed to foreign forces in its territory.

I happen to find posts such as your last completely unacceptable. You’re actually comparing the first lady to a wookie? Wookies deserve more respect than that. You should apologize. :-P

Nope, not drunk. But willing for US troops to kill the bad guys. To resolve the problem.

You are just a wishy-washy kind of person, afraid of actually fixing problems.

And you care what 'the world thinks'.

I agree. These are Vicious lies that some folks will believe because they won’t read the article either.

I live within 10 miles of the US/Mexican border. So I, of all people, realize what a critical issue it is. Candidates can and should address the issue but talk of sending troops will not help one get elected. So in that sense I am happy to see Perry with foot once again firmly planted in mouth. But the reality of our actually sending troops is scant so he was just blowing smoke — expensive smoke as I believe this will hurt him when he tries explaining it at the next debate.

The brain trusts here flogging the Romney nomination by default reminded me of Obama’s “soft” remark. With no ground knowledge whatsoever, no vision, and certainly no preemptive thinking they set themselves up to snicker at the one who stands with both the goods and the guarantee that borders are sovreign. Perry’s muscle on the border is the biggest single footprint in the nation that can even be weilded by a state. To belittle the supposition that eventually the US mission to Columbia may have to be repeated in Mexico another one of those issues nobody wants to talk about but the guy who can literally see Mexico from his state. Chuckle and snort about that. Find me any other candidate standing who deals with with blood, blood money and blood drugs, cartels, human trafficking and gun running with one hand tied, and with the other covering the nations netheregion with HALF of all jobs produced, with a Mexican constituency. Guys running around in faux plaids with their sleeves rolled up, or their eight to five suits, and ladies in their lipstick, these people don’t have a clue, but by golly they can yap in a debate well, scoring BIG by soley by knocking the only one on the stage who dwarfs their knowledge and experience. He’s got it and they want it. This, while knowing full well they will be asking Rick Perry for advice in the future to keep their collective patoots in business when the national emergency badges ring them up to border catastrophe. For certain, we shall get the government we deserve, placing one of these no nothings in the White House by way of their smart mouth and no record of doing squat that even remotely compares to that of the governor of Texas leading the diverse nation state of Texas for ten years. Next?

Perry specifically said (in the parts of the article that you conveniently snipped out in the summary) that it would only be done in concert with the Mexican government. For those in Rio Linda, that means Mexico would need to ask for our help. It is not a unilateral ‘insane’ Napoleonic dream on Perry’s part. So if you want to believe it is, go ahead. I’m not buying that.

It’s “toublemakers” are scattered among it military establishment and government. Cartels, gun-runners, politicians............all the same as their “troublemakers.” The Mexican military is as involved in the drug trade as any major cartel.

Invade the country to remove the “troublemakers” involves disassembling it’s entire current Federal structure. Upon doing so, there is not a ruling structure in place.

Invade and the country we know as Mexico collapses. There is nothing left. The only significant controlling structure left in the aftermath is....the United States.

It is scary, but, it’s damn obvious.

Its a huge and dire situaion. This is only one option but Perry is open to it should it be necessary and if Mexico wants our help. Are you saying that this should never be an option?

This whole thread is a joke? You made the accusation that Perry wants to invade Mexico and now you say it was a joke? This thread should be pulled.

Come to think of it, I remember we had a few wookies in our platoon at Ft. Jackson, but that was many years ago. They were from West Virginia and had never worn shoes, so the boots gave them the fits. But they sure knew how to handle an M-14! :o)

A thread should be pulled because you don't like what I posted regarding its content? It's a good thing those decisions aren't up to you, comrade.

Take from the article what you will and so will I.

South40 flips candidates as a full time job. The fun that’s in it was all Palin until she threw him under the bus and now he’s lathered up for Cain by indication, whose border policy mirrors Perry’s. Herman is everyone’s favorite uncle but please, even he would not match his accomplishments under the AC with the rest of the executives with that of Rick’s. Herman voted for Romney and in the debate picked Romney over the others. He is more than interested in slow dancing with the establishment Republicans and signaled the fact loud and clear. What is perfectly clear is that eventually these purists are going to deal with that Hispanic voting block whether they like it or not. But right now it is important for them to smarmy the voters with their oratory over the truth. Rick has always been a sorry liar on the issues, reality and the certainty of the future. It isn’t that that we’re hearing lies outright about Rick, it’s that by purposeful omission of the facts all hugged up with the colossol ignorance, that the Lefty sources and the Lefty analysis is regurgitated, thinking if it is really loud and obnoxious, it must be accurate. What a swallow. LOL.

Mexico as a nation ceases to be and you assume the vacuum that results.

Do you really think that is possible, considering the illegals come here and don't even try to assimilate? Those in Mexico are going to willingly agree to Mexico no longer existing? Sounds a little like the muslims trying to wipe Israel off the earth.

We only need them close enough to monitor the border better and to respond in minutes, not hours.

This is not the fault of the few agents and National Guardsmen that we have covering 1200 miles. They should have more troops, and move via helicopters, not SUV’s. The wall is redundant alongside the river, or would be if the patrols were more effective and response time were faster.
