It’s the loonie lefties at the website I linked to that think Perry wants to invade Mexico. Isn’t that what you think too? If you don’t then what is the point of this thread?

What part of being a man, or a sovereign nation do you not understand?

You can do as you want. You may get your ass kicked, but going to war against Mexico isn't some crazy idea that hasn't ever been done before.

So buck up, kid. We can stop a lot of problems by standing up and confronting the troublemakers.

It may be messy and noisy. But we can do it.

Of course I read it. Have you read this thread?

I don't really believe Perry wants to invade Mexico (you understand humor, don't you?)

I believe he was blowing smoke in a vain attempt to rekindle his dwindling campaign.

Considering the CIA intel stated upthread, the only troops needed are the pilots of a B2 and a squadron of de-mothballed F117s.

Fly in at 30,000 or higher at 4 a.m., bomb the HQs/bases of the cartels and the homes of their main-mid level people, return home and leave no radar sig to mark our passing. The Mex military then has a ‘chance’ at getting it controlled in the aftermath and disorganization.

And just play dumb about it.

Other than that, nope. Not short of a full-sacle invasion/war and NOT with Obama or General Perry as CIC.

In that case, let’s invade Washington!

Actually, I don't have a problem with that. And we've tried that once.

Didn't do so good, but practice makes perfect.

Does he want to invade a sovereign nation?

I don't think Perry sees either the US or Mexico as sovereign. As evidenced by his 2001 Border Summit speech he sees us as not separate but "joined by the Rio Grande"...

Only a few haters would interpret this article in the way you are portraying.

Of course, you know he wasn’t saying he would invade Mexico but would do something smilar as we did with Columbia.

Right now, Mexico wouldn’ be open to it but it very well could change.

Firstly, does a thread really need a point? The Perrywinkles post anything they can find with his name in the headline, point or no point. That said, this thread did have a point which was to highlight that Rick Perry is so desperate to rekindle his faltering campaign that he would make an inane suggestion like sending troops into Mexico.

And I didn't know you provided a link, I didn't click on it and don't plan to.

Wonder how he is going to handle this one when they ask him aout it at the next debate?

He'll call those who disagree 'heartless'.

Yeah, just ask the cartels to please hang on to them till US troops come... somehow I suspect that wouldn’t turn out all that well LOL!

Am very well read upon History.......that is my passion after all.

Do not confuse the political realities of today versus those of 150 years ago. Things can, kind of, change in the intervening years. It’s been known to happen.

Send the CIA or FBI or ATF (uh-huh) on secret ops inside Mexico.....um, okay. Send the regular U.S. Army or National Guard? Entirely different story unless you are willing to assume the situation, welfare, and standing of those involved in the area in question.

You are essentially indicating via action and policy that the presumed government is no longer valid or in control and upon entry are instituting your own rule of law. There’s no other alternative.

Invade Mexico and assume it’s burden. Period. Mexico as a nation ceases to be and you assume the vacuum that results.

I’ve long believed that the end of the “drug wars” involves the assumption of current day Mexico as we know it.

Do we want to do that or not. It’s all in or nothing.

What would Teddy Roosevelt do?

It could very well happen that they change their mind on this. They may have no choice as the problem continues to escalate.

Great post, Grams. But Perry is of a liberal mindset so he’s not likely to do any of that. In fact I’d bet on it.

Did you read your own article?

Here are the exact words from your link - “It may require our military in Mexico working in concert with them to kill these drug cartels and keep them off of our borders,” he (Perry) said.

I get it... you don’t like Perry. That’s fine but you have made an accusation on this thread that is not supported by your article, his words, or any other evidence that I am aware of.

In reading your first few posts I thought you might be drunk. In reading your last I am convinced of it.

Bye.

Mexico is a failed state on a par with Afghanistan, corrupt officials, warlords, and all.

No. Not true. Kill the troublemakers and leave the rest to rebuild without them.

This is a huge issue right now. All candidates should be thinking about it and studying it.
