The Palestinian Authority, which has already made a pact with the Hamas terrorist organization, now seeks recognition for a unilaterally declared state at the United Nations. President Barack Obama, though deeply committed to Palestinian statehood, declares his intention to block that scheme, even by exercising an American veto in the Security Council. Congress, for its part, threatens to cut off aid to the Palestinian Authority if it breaches its commitment to direct talks with Israel and pursues unilateralism.
American mediators, meanwhile, lobby other members of the Middle East Quartetthe U.S., the European Union, the U.N., and Russiain an attempt to forge a new framework for renewing Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. And Israels Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu waits for the Palestinians to rejoin him at the negotiating table.
Sound confusing? Indeed it was for many observers of this past weeks dizzying diplomacy in New York. They asked themselves what exactly had transpired at the U.N., and why? What had spurred the Palestinians to turn their backs on a sympathetic U.S. president and a strong Israeli statesman capable of leading his skeptical people to peace? How could the Palestinians risk all they had achieved in recent yearsa thriving economy, restored law and order, and significant U.S. aidin a reckless bid to snatch the statehood that they could easily have earned?

Israel just express their desire for peace and borrow from the words that The Gipper used years ago when he said:
“Here’s my strategy on the Cold War: We win, they lose. ..
- Rockets continue to be fired from Gaza into Israel.
- Israel purchases decomissioned B-52s from Davis-Monthan, loads them up with napalm and burns Gaza to the ground.
- Hamas is wiped out, Abbas wets his pants, the West Bank is pacified, and Jewish settlements in Judea/Samaria resume as they should.
- So-called 'Palestinians' go back to Jordan where they belong, and Israel annexes the West Bank and what's left of Gaza.
Peace.
Right on.....I just love it when a plan comes together. :-)
“Recipe for peace”
Sounds like a plan. I like it.

Palestinians recognize weakness, American weakness. As to By accepting the Jewish State, the Palestinians can have their own, they can have one without recognizing the Jewish State.
American mediators, meanwhile, lobby other members of the Middle East Quartet -- the U.S., the European Union, the U.N., and Russia -- in an attempt to forge a new framework for renewing Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
