Doc Dump: White House Knew
IBD Editorials ^ | October 3, 2011 | Staff

Scandal: Friday's release of documents shows the extent of White House contact with the ATF over Operation Fast and Furious. Included is a map showing where the guns went in Mexico — enough weapons for a Marine unit.

In a classic news-dampening maneuver, some, but not all, documents requested by congressional investigators looking at administration gun-running were released late Friday by the White House. Usually this is done to avoid the full impact of politically embarrassing or, in this case, potentially incriminating news.

As we noted in July, Special Agent in Charge William Newell, recently promoted to a cushy job with a tighter leash in Washington, D.C., admitted in testimony on Capitol Hill that he had been in contact with then-White House National Security Council staffer Kevin O'Reilly, who Newell said was a "good friend."

The document dump confirms this was more than casual chatting between friends and involved more than a simple single inquiry. O'Reilly at the time was national security director for North America and tasked with monitoring the activities of Mexican drug cartels.

Newell testified in July that O'Reilly had inquired about the status of the operation to brief administration officials before a trip to Mexico. Newell sent O'Reilly the requested information with the caveat, "You didn't get this from me."

As CBS News has reported, the email exchanges between Newell and O'Reilly lasted for more than a month. Among the documents produced is an email Newell sent O'Reilly with an "arrow chart reflecting the ultimate destination of firearms we intercepted and/or where the guns ended up."

I find that all the news channels are using distraction in order not to cover the FF, Solyndra, Kagan, crashing stock market and economy, and other scandals. They spend all their news time with Kate & William, appeal trial in Italy, junkie Michael Jackson’s doctors trial, and any other ET non-news stuff to fill the allotted time. Anything but covering the news.

Thanks! I didn’t know all of that. But I still say, whatever it takes, something has to happen to punish those responsible for Gun Walker and Fast and Furious.

Hundred of people have been murdered because of these two programs.

...something has to happen to punish those responsible for Gun Walker and Fast and Furious.

Under the current administration, that will simply be impossible.

And, as a rule, an incoming administration overlooks any illegal or corrupt behavior on the part of the previous administration. Seems to be a "political courtesy", so to speak.

In this case, though, the lawbreaking and corruption has been so egregious, so widespread, so subversive of both our Constitution and a neighboring country...not to mention the direct cause of hundreds of deaths...that it should be incumbent on the incoming administration to a.) complete the investigation and b.) severely punish those responsible.

If, as a nation, we condone this type of behavior on the part of any administration, we are asking for even worse behavior in the future.

Even if Obama pardons everybody, the facts of the case must be determined and fully publicized. The full degree of criminality and corruption must be exposed.

You are absolutely correct. This thing has international connections. Our government cannot cause the deaths of hundreds of citizens in another country without a declaration of war, as I understand it—Viet Nam notwithstanding.

OMO Holder not only knew, he and Obama planned the whole thing.

Now: Is Holder going to take the heat himself or will he squeal on his Bro——Obama.

OR: Will Issa and his investigation fold up like a cheap suit.

It appears that this thing has finally gotten to the point where it can no longer be hidden, even by a Media that lives up Obama’s rectum. The Stinky Stuff is about to hit the fan, and by all rights should lead to Impeachment. Killing over 200 Mexicans and at Least One Border Patrol Agent is a little more than Mexicans and the American Public should have to put up with in order to carry out Obama’s anti-gun agenda.
