[Jesse Jackson Jr] calls on Democrats to condemn Rick Perry over offensive word
Boston Herald ^ | October 5, 2011 | Maria Recio

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., called on House Democrats Tuesday at a closed Democratic Caucus meeting to approve a resolution critical of Texas Gov. Rick Perry for not having removed a racially offensive slur from a rock at his family’s hunting camp.

The racially charged name of the site, "N – head," was first reported in a Washington Post story Sunday.

The Perry presidential campaign disputed the account and said the rock with the offensive word at the entrance of the leased hunting area in Throckmorton County, Texas, had been painted over at Perry’s instruction in the early 1980s. The Post story cited seven people who had seen it and said the word was visible, even after it was painted over with white paint, as recently as this summer.

Jackson circulated a draft resolution Tuesday among Democratic members that condemns Perry and calls on him and all other GOP candidates who haven’t apologized, to do so. A Democratic staffer made a copy of the draft resolution available to McClatchy Newspapers.

GOP candidate Herman Cain, who is African-American, was sharply critical of Perry on Sunday talk shows for being "insensitive" on race.

Jackson spokesman Frank Watkins said that the lawmaker, the son of activist Rev. Jesse Jackson, made a case for a privileged resolution on the House floor condemning the Texas governor for tolerating the offensive word.

"He felt all Americans were offended by this," said Watkins. "They listened very carefully. There was rapt attention."

Perry spokesman Mark Miner said of Jackson, "This sounds like nothing more than a political ploy by someone who doesn’t have all the facts."

If it took him this long to get in the mix, it’s because there is nothing else in his quiver. This is going to be a Perry positive in the long run. Clearly only low politicians and race baiters are playing this for self recognition. It gives Perry a great card to play if Herman Cain ever brings this up again. He can always call it the Herman Cain Beer Summit moment.

Jesse Jackson is an American civil rights activist and Baptist minister with a net worth of $10 million. Jesse Jackson acquired that net worth as a prominent civil rights activist, United States shadow Senator, and the creator of the civil rights organization Rainbow/PUSH. He was born in Greenville, South Carolina.

I am Baptist and have never known a Baptist pastor worth $10 million.

In fact, let me add just one more thing:

How many of us has had the occasion to be in the presence of profance or offensive graffiti on a wall or restroom stall? Are we guilty of something, when we weren’t the ones that put it there?

Or... What if someone vandalizes our property by painting offensive language on something we own. If we don’t condone that type of language or thought, are we still guilty just because the language appears on our property?

Can you tell I’m frustrated by the absurdity of this?

It’s the sham MSM making an issue of it. I guarantee the average American thinks it is stupid.

Rick Perry's 'N-Head' Problem and the Fourth Estate's Hypocrisy

Beating the Racism Card [snip] ...."This tells us how to handle these accusations. You don't go along with the script. The script is there to humiliate and destroy, and that is all. Instead, you defy it. Stand up to the accusers and run them off. Since their only power comes from numbers, use numbers against them. The next time an attack occurs during this campaign (as it inevitably will, and probably aimed at Perry), all the candidates must stand as one against the accusers..... The candidates, through public media statements, must make clear their full support of the intended victim. No weasel-wording, no equivocation, no ambiguity. A general statement, signed by all of them, should then be released, presenting a succinct and logical argument as to why such accusations are unacceptable, with each swearing that he or she will stand by the others in any such situation, and ending with a condemnation by name of the accuser.

This can be taken further by conservative columnists, bloggers, and talk-show hosts. The accuser(s) should be keelhauled. The goal will be to make them as miserable as they intended their victims to be, which would act as a form of aversion therapy, forcing them to think twice and then three times about ever pulling the same trick again. (Need I add that the process would also prove valuable in cases involving Congress, industry, state politicians, media, and anywhere else such accusations may arise?)

What will happen is that the accusers will retreat. They are bullies, and that is what bullies do. (Even Andre Carson, a blowhard and loudmouth of the first order, has thought better of his "lynching" comment.) The media will give the GOP candidates all the publicity any pol could want. The GOP voters will go wild. Any further accusations will be unlikely, a benefit to all candidates equally. It would mean a cleaner campaign, an easier victory, and who knows? Perhaps even a step toward a more civil society.

For too long, too many blacks have wallowed in their own private sumps of self-pity, collapsing into whimpers every time somebody mentions blackmail, blackouts, or black markets. It's a pathetic epilogue to the heroism and grandeur of the civil rights movement. It's past time this adolescent posturing was put aside.

It will take some effort to accomplish this. (We'll refer only to the fact that the current incumbent has made no such effort whatsoever.) But the black grievance-hunters are no better than the Dixiecrats of old, using the same methods to keep Americans on edge, in fear, and overcome with anxiety. Using racism for political gain is a cheap and coarse tactic no matter who is involved. It needs to be ended." [end]

Jesse Jackson Senior used the tactics of blackmail, extortion, shakedowns to get companies to fork over money to him — do it or he’d round up the protesting mob to embarrass you and make headlines. They paid to keep the peace — that would be “community organizer” peace.

Ha!

The day he announced I figured he’d be my #2 choice. Now I’d take Santorum, Newt, Herman and maybe even the Mittster ahead of him. He is however safely ahead of Huntsman and Paul in my book.

That said, this is a completely unfair line of attack against him. He has gone and called us heartless racists who judge people by the sound of their last names, but that only causes me to consider him a mutton-headed liberal in return: I don’t see evidence of him being racist. (Though perhaps some of his policies are, in that illegals would get preferences over white Texans at UT insofar as they are considered minorities.)

Nutty head?
Naughty head?
Nipple head?
Nanna head?

The possibilities are endless.

Who told Mr. Hymie-town he gets to decide what's offensive? He's clearly shown poor judgment on the subject in the past.

I don't mind debating you but I do object to your continued distortion of the truth. The VAST majority of those students pay in-state tuition to community colleges and they are not given preference over anyone else. There are between 1.3 and 1.8 million (according to who you believe) students enrolled in Texas colleges and universities (and much of the schools' funding comes from oil royalties they control from the oil found under their campuses).

A whole lot of people have left Cain over this. One said, we already have one black man in the WH with a chip on their shoulder, we don’t need another black man with a chip on his shoulder. That is how folks are seeing it...bad news for Cain...
