Herman Cain Tells Poor And Jobless “Don’t Blame Wall St., Blame Yourself”
News One ^ | October 6, 2011 | Casey Gane-McCalla

Posted on 10/06/2011 11:46:55 AM PDT by americanophile

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain had harsh words for the “Occupy Wall Street” movement and the people who blame Wall Street for their financial situations.

Cain would also claim that the “Occupy Wall Street” protests are possibly a planned distraction to make people forget about President Obama’s role in handling the economy.

Talking Points Memo reports:

Cain went on to blame the unemployed for their woes, saying, “if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself!”:

CAIN: I don’t have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration. Don’t blame Wall Street, don’t blame the big banks, if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself! [...] It is not someone’s fault if they succeeded, it is someone’s fault if they failed.

If you walk around Wall Street looking like zombies and homeless people, don’t expect to get a job.
If you sit around playing xbox all day, don’t expect to get a job.
If you go through college taking bogus courses such as gender studies, don’t expect to get a job.

Not everything can be blamed on government.

“No it’s not, don’t be ridiculous. Reagan would have lifted people up with hope and spoken about the unique entrepreneurial nature of the American people and how government policy thwarts their rise...he wouldn’t go for divisive finger-pointing at people down on their luck (provided were talking about the unemployed at large). “

welfare queens, remember?

Yup. Romney will ALWAYS say the safe thing whether it’s this issue or social security or anything else.

We have to get rid of unempolyment check.

AND!!!

We have to get rid of governement regulation and taxation that is a barrier to all forms of business.

Now how precisely can we continue to sugarcoat those statements when we are adding over a hundred billion to our deficit in just the last four days?

The end game here, is that the government as we know it today will soon collapse under the weight of the debt and self reliance will be the way it has to be for many years after that.

And we are arguing over whether telling the hard truth to your potential voters is a good or bad thing?

We are so far past the “tough love” stage of this problem I’m laughing here. Might as well tell it hard and like it is. Anything less is an insult to us all.

I don't expect liberals to vote for Cain regardless of what he says. What I posted matters to people like me who are sick of politicians always blaming X on the other side.

I am SICK AND TIRED of partisanship. One of the appealing things about Cain is that he isn't a part of The Machine.

Career politicians all suck, dems and pubbies. I want someone who is going to say what they think, rather than someone whose only talking point is "It's their fault".

We cannot continue to look to government to fix government.

“…bureaucracy once created has one fundamental rule above all others: Preserve the bureaucracy.”
A Reagan quote.

The only chance we have is if we get regular people in office who think like we do; people who think, just as Cain said here, it is not up to government to make you successful.

You’re equivocating. There is a difference between a comment to an article in context, and taking something out of context.

Furthermore, you stated these words: “I don’t know whether this is accurate...”

In other words, you’ve admitted that the information may NOT be accurate, and yet you’ll not only post the article, but comment on something that may not be accurate. Healthy skepticism? The crux of your comment focused on a criticism of Herman Cain, not the so-called report. You’re being disingenuous.

You’re using this article as an attack against Herman Cain’s character, and this is motivating by your support or interest in another candidate.

Reagan knew every “welfare Cadillac” joke in the book—and that's what these 99% bums are—raised on steak and now bitchin’ about having to eat hamburger!
The Gipper was high-fiving Cain from the grave on this one.

It depends on who he’s referring to.

You can get the context from watching the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=euw7aW1CAaw

Pretty obvious when you watch it.

“Sorry playing kiss face with the Left is not going to win you any votes. The left will always outbid you with the taxpayers check book. We tried your style campaign in 2008 with McCain, how did that work out for us?”

Take a breath and try to understand what I said. To win the next election, we’re going to have to sway some independent and moderate democrats. With the high unemployment, many worried about being unemployed or out of business within the next year, it’s pretty stupid to say what he said. Everyone is going to have that drilled into their heads, not just the rent-a-mob on Wallstreet.

What Cain said is a gift to the Obama campaign.

The point is to win the election isn’t it?

McCain campaign isn’t my campaign, I don’t want to play kiss face, but I darn well want to play smart. That statement was not smart.

Angry conservative isn’t going to win the next election, no need to start jumping all over the same side all ready.

If you don’t have a big, fat income that’s dependent on big, fat government (where most big incomes come from), you have only yourself to blame.

"I think Herman Cain was asked about the Occupy Wall Street Group."

If his comment was directed back at them, then it was righteous. We don't have revenues for more socialists in government employment. Don't even have the revenues for those currently on government payrolls.
