Carver Couple Wants More Control of Their Kids' Food

Jen and Keith Gorney have chosen to serve their children raw milk from a local farmer. They've also chosen to send two of their kids to an Eden Prairie daycare for half day sessions. They didn't realize those choices would work against each other.

The Gorneys learned that USDA guidelines require centers that serve meals to serve pasteurized milk with those meals. The Gorneys wanted to bring water to serve as a substitute but that is not allowed.

They understand the daycare has no choice. If they do not follow guidelines they could lose their state license.

I agree fully with their decision to feed their children raw milk. It's more nutritious and will strengthen their immune systems. Yes, contamination is a risk -- though a controlled one if you know how the milk was handled.

Where they're screwing up is sending the kids to day care. Now, that's harmful.

Well your love of government control along will many other government loving liberals are giving more and more of your life to the government. Obamacare, seatbelt laws, gun regulation, regulation of commerce, man you must think you are in heaven. Enjoy your security because soon you will have no freedom.

Most of our parents grew up with raw milk. But now it’s easier to find and purchase a case of hard liquor than a quart of raw milk.

"About 20 years ago I almost died from salmonella poisoning from eating raw eggs trying to be Rocky."

If you are now of the opinion that another family should not be able to eat or drink whatever they please, the country would be better off with you dead.

The government should protect the country by protecting the borders and fighting when necessary, but the government has no business reaching into our kitchens to dictate what can or can not be consumed.

No, I love modern science and medicine and protecting human life. The right to life comes before the right to give your kids poison to drink.

Sounds like the ‘pro-choice’ position.

Yes, I absolutely have the right to choose what I do or do not eat and drink. Give yourself a star for being a quick study today.

You said "No, I love modern science and medicine and protecting human life. The right to life comes before the right to give your kids poison to drink."

But what you really mean is No, I love government control to protect me. Government control comes before the right to anything.

“Drinking raw milk is INSANE?
I grew up on raw milk, so did my parents, so did my kids and some of my grandkids. All with no bad effects.
We don’t do it for political reasons now. It’s to avoid the health problems caused by the formaldehyde used to homogenize store milk among other reasons.
Chroic ear infections in young children are the most prevalent issues occuring from drinking this “doctored” milk.
