Tea Party to Scott Brown: Good luck with that election, buddy
Hotair ^ | 10/07/2011 | Jazz Shaw

He may have been the first major victory of the Tea Party on a national level, but Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown may wind up looking a bit lonely in that regard has he prepares to run for his first full term in the upper chamber. The Daily Caller is reporting that Tea Party activists are feeling rather lukewarm toward Brown at best.

…Scott Brown was the tea party movement’s first electoral victory. But now that he’s up for re-election for a full six-year term in 2012, tea party activists tell The Daily Caller they’re not going to bother putting together the same operation that swept him into office the first time.

That’s not to say tea partiers will not vote for Brown, or even put up much of an effort to oppose him since a serious primary challenger has yet to be found. The movement has matured into realizing that sometimes the “least of two evils” — as one activist put it — is necessary in a traditionally blue state like Massachusetts.

But don’t expect tea partiers to be happy about it.

“Scott Brown has disappointed us a few times,” Carlos Hernandez, state coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots, told TheDC. “So are we going to go out there and hold signs for him everyday? I don’t think so.”

The “disappointments” by Scott Brown were not only evident, but predicted long before he was sworn in to office. Many of the same people who were celebrating the stunning victory during the 2010 congressional races began falling out of love with the upstart as soon as he began voting like a … Massachusetts Republican. And let’s be realistic here. We grow some pretty fluffy RINOs here in New York, but we don’t hold a candle to the Bay State. I’m fairly sure that all nine of the registered Republicans in Boston are pro-choice, among other things.

But Brown knows his own state and clearly can sense which way the wind is blowing. He had every intention of being competitive in this race, and he’s less concerned with impressing conservatives in Alabama than he is with the independents back home who he will need to vote for him next year. The good news in this is that there doesn’t seem to be any momentum to getting a primary challenge going against him. It will be hard enough sending Scott back for a full term, even if he is the most popular politician in the state. And while he’s at it, he might want to avoid any more references to Elizabeth Warren getting naked.

The world isn’t black and white, but shades of grey. Who would be better in MA?

How is he a traitor to conservatives? He isn’t one, so he can’t be a traitor.

Anyone can beat Brown.

How do you figure? Have you seen the make up of the electorate and their voting patterns in MA? There are places in the country that Conservatives will not win. We can't even get RINO's elected in CA. Some places are too far gone.

I think the Tea Party will change their tune when they are staring down the barrel of 6 years of a straight up Marxists like Warren. A squishy RINO is better than a doctrinaire Communist any day.

no, not really. It's better to have fake democrats in name only than republicans in name only.

so what if he's sent packing. In order to affect change we need conservatives that will support or at least prevent important aspects of the liberal agenda from passing.

He'll vote FOR "balancing the budget" by raising taxes.

He'll vote "for choice" by allowing tax dollars to fund abortion.

He'll vote "for sensible gun control". and on and on.

An enemy in my face is better than an enemy in my camp.

The rules on filibusters is being changed and there we have it. when we take control of the Senate next election, we stuff the democrat minority into the closet and lock the door. f'em.

Enforce voting laws and politically destroy the RINO class. Start at the local level and work your way up . Any city council member, any county commissioner, any state senate/representative that increases a fee, passes a bond for beautification or rapid rail... vote the out. Don't let them explain, don't let them flip flop...just one and done.. out. Get the next douche-tard wannabe legislator in there and repeat till clean.

Just starve the beast and cut the spending.

And how is Warren going to vote? Scrapping Obamacare is not going to happen if we do not win the Senate as will as holding the House. Show me exactly were anyone more to the right of Brown will win in the Bay State. Clearing out RINO's in purple states for Conservatives is doable. Did so in PA recently. But no one has shown me were it has been done in a Socialist Blue state like MA. There are barely the votes to elect RINO's in MA.

I would rather have Brown with us 50% of the time and go about flipping other Rat seats to get us the candidates we like. MI is one. PA is another. We could get a filibuster proof Senate if things go the way they look like they are and then we would only need Brown now and again.

We sat out in protest in '06 and look where we are today. On the brink of disaster. It is time to beat the Rats wherever they are now.

I don’t particularly agree with Scott Brown on all issues, but I’d MUCH rather see him in that seat than Elizabeth Warren! I’m certainly NOT going to cut off my nose to spite my face!

Olympia Snow and Susan Collins don’t have Tea Party support. They still win, so there must be something to the reasoning that New England Republicans survive because they are liberal like their constituents. Scott should have no problem. If he is really representing the will of his constituents, national Tea Party support should be irrelevant.

Sorry, for those of you who jumped the gun and started blaming tea party-ers. Re-read the article, who says anything about tea party rather prefer voting for Warren?

Brown chose his ways as he saw fit to represent his state, (and thinking that is his best chance at winning re-election), but it is not up to tea party standards or conservative core.

Senator Brown did not think himself beholden to tea party, such as what it is. Why should you hold against the tea party-ers for not being enthused about him? Holding someones against their wills to do things (in this case, campaign for Scott Brown) is like slavery.

You forgot a vote. Scott Brown will vote for Mitch McConnell to be the Majority Leader - not Harry Reid. GOP control of the senate means there won’t be votes to raise taxes, fund abortion, and take your guns.
Abandoning RINOs like Brown in state like MA (where conservatives will NOT win) is like showing up to a baseball game with 8 guys and turning down a 9th player who suck but will keep you from forfeiting and let you play the game. You put the RINOs in right field and hope nobody hits the ball to them, but you don’t forfeit the game.

I guess I read a different article than everyone else. They said they’d vote for him. Expecting them to enthusiastically get out and volunteer is not realistic.

I don’t like some of Brown’s votes. I don’t think he’s a RINO though. We throw that term around too much. However, even if he was, I’d still want him to win. People who bitch about him assume there is some 100% conservative who can win the MA senate seat. For anyone moaning about what a “RINO” Brown is, name the MA conservative who has a shot at winning the seat. You can’t because there isn’t one. And then think about that arrogant Lib harpy Warren in the seat. She is smart and will be effective at helping to pass laws that will impact all of us. So before anyone goes off on Brown, remember that the perfect should not be the enemy of the good.

Do Freepers cut Mitt Romney the same slack? He was governor of MA, and had the same constituency that Brown has.

The difference is that Romney is running for president and will have voters from all states voting for him. Thus, the more conservative parts of the country vote too. Only MA voters vote for Brown. Thus, we have to be realistic about what we can get. No conservative is going to win in MA. A conservative can win in a national election.

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, is going to be said during the electon season here if Romney ends up being the Pub nominee for Prez. Will FR go silent? Will discussion be allowed? Will it only be allowed if it is all anti-Romney? Will it be like the Dems websites, and be an anti-the-Pub-candidate discussion forum? Will it actively work against the Pub nominee? It will be a real trip and a half to see what shape FR will take if Romney ends up winning the Pub primary fight.

Did you really think a Republican in MA would be like Jim Demint? He is about as far right as you can get up there.

You put the RINOs in right field and hope nobody hits the ball to them, but you don’t forfeit the game.

A good illustration. Unfortunately, some conservatives are more interested in punishing the guy for being a suck player than forfeiting the game.

Scott was the tipping point for that miserable, stinking, pathetic Dodd-Frank bill that is killing our banks.

Sorry, I can’t give him a second chance. I donated to his campaign. He can go on his own this time, without my money.
