Presidential candidate Herman Cain said Sunday that he didnt believe racism was a major factor holding minorities back in America, asserting instead that African Americans had a level playing field on which to advance economically.
I don't believe racism in this country today holds anybody back in a big way, Cain said on CNNs State of the Union. Are there some elements of racism? Yes. It gets back to if we don't grow this economy, that is a ripple effect for every economic level, and because blacks are more disproportionately unemployed, they get hit the worst when economic policies don't work. That's where it starts.

...in other news, Moochelle Obama is once again not proud of her country.
There will always be such among us.
However, there will be a large percentage of blacks who have been uncomfortable if not outright disgusted with the welfare plantations and their abuses and their stripping people of incentive and aspiration for a long time. (See link below.)
They just might not have been at a place where they could jump to the GOP yet -- sort of like the conservative Episcopalian who stays in the denomination a long time, hoping to reform it from within.
These are the people who are ready and willing to move into full engagement with the American Dream. Once they figure out they are not alone, and that they can withstand the jawboning of the Sharptons of the world, many will make that walk.
Doesn’t matter.
Also, I don’t think all of the people on welfare care a lick about getting off it. It’s a comfortable “living” and you get to do what you want. They are content — free house, free food, free cell phone, free bus pass, free utilities, free medical — and you can charge “racism” if anyone messes with you or disses your self-respect or initiative. What’s not to love if that’s what you love?
The Dems need close to 100% of the black vote to win ANY election. If the GOP peeled off 10-20% of the black vote, the Dems could never win again.
We need more Herman Cains and Allen Wests, and less of the obamas, Sharptons.
no, it’s not news.
but what cain says needs to be said and said and said in public.
Yeah, the EBT Land of Milk and Honey I guess...

This will never happen. The Conservative message of personal responsibility, working hard, being frugal, and pulling yourselves up by your bootstraps is just too much daggone work.
Bill Cosby and a collaborator wrote a book a while back, the title of which is: “Come On, People!” In it they cover ALL the stuff supposedly “holding blacks back” and why 99% of it is the fault of the individual. They give the PRECISE coordinates of where the bear defacated in the buckwheat!
I think the proper nomenclature for these hustlers is “POVERTY PIMP!”
Plantation Overlords. lol
They weren’t held back because of racism, Cain said. People sometimes hold themselves back because they want to use racism as an excuse for them not being able to achieve what they want to achieve.
I honestly believe Cain is the best hope for the black community to come along in decades. The black community have truly been brainwashed by the race baiters and liberal excuse makers eager to keep blacks down and beholding to them. It is a vicious circle when unemployment hits blacks so disproportionately yet they are brought up in a culture where doing well in school is frowned upon as being “too white”. Go Cain, I am solidly in your corner with my vote and pocketbook.
and?
I was about to post the same thing. He doesn't come across as a run of the mill slime politician in it for ego gratification.
I don't think he said always, he said in many cases or words to that effect.
If he did, I didn’t catch that qualifier.
Once upon a time, I had a young black man working for me who was also pursuing a masters degree in Russian studies. He came from an area of SC that was apparently entrenched in the welfare state of mind. His own family disowned him because he could not let well enough alone as they saw it. Instead he went out and used his excellent mind to try and better himself.
When he told me about how his family treated him, it broke my heart. I just could not even imagine it. But he treated it as a cost he knew he would pay when he decided to make something of himself. It took me awhile. But I think I do understand a little tiny part of it...He exposed the potential that existed by excelling. That could could not be left without condemnation of his effort, otherwise the poor existence that everyone in his family lived was their own fault. And that is what Mr Cain will have to face too. This should be really interesting.
They weren't held back because of racism, Cain said. People sometimes hold themselves back because they want to use racism as an excuse for them not being able to achieve what they want to achieve.Booker T. Washington knew about such people back in the 1890s.
