One of the things to watch for in tonights GOP debate is how Herman Cain is treated by his fellow candidates. Is he perceived as a threat? Do they take his chances seriously?
snip
Based on history, that kind of performance ought to make Cain a target in the debate, because thats what happens to top-tier candidates. When Rick Perry entered the race and seemed a real threat, Romney wasted no time attacking him, with Michele Bachmann gleefully joining in. Perry hasnt been the same since.

So if Romney, Perry and Bachmann do perceive Cain as a legitimate threat to win the nomination, theyll begin to question him and his policies directly. Call it a sign of respect. Maybe theyll ask him why, in 2008, he strongly backed the TARP bailout and treated opponents with such condescension, attacking them as free market purists (who) want you to believe that this is the end of capitalism as we know it. Maybe theyll press him on why he dismissed an audit of the Federal Reserve, saying those who thought an audit necessary just didnt know enough about the Fed. (They also ought to challenge him on the fact that his 9-9-9 plan would significantly raise taxes on the poor and middle class, but this being a Republican debate, that probably wont happen.)
On the other hand, if they continue to treat Cain with kid gloves, preferring to direct their fire elsewhere, that will say a lot as well.

What you just said is absolutely unfounded and ridiculous. Perry has a TON of Republican support — just not in the northeast where the RINOS roam. Perry is a viable candidate BECAUSE of all his support, plus his incredible ability to reach across to moderates and independents. Cain cannot beat Romney. He doesn’t have the infrastructure, Republican support, or funding. He’s a VP contender and a book salesman and Romney is using him for a Perry spoiler. The evidence is becoming overwhelming, and all the sudden.
Cain also has no Republican support. Who is backing him financially? Who is going to put big money on him, a guy with no experience? No one but the $20-$100 crowd. That won’t get him elected. The presidency is not an entry-level position. Cain may appeal to the purists who can’t stomach Perry, but Cain cannot beat either of them in a two-man race.
“The evidence is becoming overwhelming, and all the sudden.”
lol..what?
The same people who could not see that Palin was never going to run, are the same people who cannot get this concept, Guntor. You can’t fix stupid.
Let’s just step this up a notch. Wrapped with the flag around their head we have a cabal of so called conservatives on FR giving loft to Cain, a guy who smartly knows how this is all going down. Romney is no conservative. He is a socialist. It is not alright that Cain has elected to support, grin at, and pal up with Romney, who has patterned up the nation’s first foray into socialized healthcare, palled around with Kennedy, favored all RINOs, all the time, while his advisors assisted in how to implement Obamacare.
If I did for Romney what Cain is doing for Romney I would be kicked off FR.
“You cant fix stupid.”
Apparantly not.
“and all the sudden”
“Guntor”
No wonder you think Perry is some kind of rhetorically gifted genius.
That was intentional, Guntor. Duh.
” If money was the main reason for winning, we.... “
Fools are born in but a moment. Perry has to mount a comeback and carpet bomb the entire field, expose them and let the chips fall where they may. Cain is supporting a socialist, Romney. It is crystal clear. Why would that be okay with FReepers? Cain is a facilitator for Romney and is smart enough to know how this is going down. Cain is telegraphing it. You also are a serving utilitarian to the end game. Socialism. Cain/Romney should be very thankful.
Bet on a Romney/Cain ticket.
This isn’t a “wishing well”!
2 Strong Biz guys.
Dulls the “Morman Bias” issue.
Pulls 25% of Black vote from Obama.
Stonger anti-illegal immigration position.
“Good” Pro-Life position from a FEDERAL perspective.
You don’t have to like it, but you should plan on it!
Rule #1 in traffic and politics:
First, get through the intersection!
Then, worry about which lane you’re in.
Really? Youve talked to them all? Perhaps you have a poll to back up your wild assertion? “ <<<
Do you really need a poll to see your neighbor feed his dog? Is Romney not the nearest socialist the Republicans can offer up, in the Collins-Snowe (ME)range? Would it be okay for me to wish for Romney as VP? Would it be okay for me to support anyone who supports socialism? Cain is in the tank. You too have your head wrapped in the flag to the point you no longer see what is really going down around you. It is NOT alright that Cain is hugged up with a socialist to tag team the only threat to Romney—Rick Perry.
Thank you for admitting in a round about way that you pulled your opinion out of your nether regions.
“intentional”
Wow, that was a big word. Good for you!
Don’t patronize me, Guntor. It only makes you look small. If you’ve got something you would like to discuss, I’m here for you.
“Dont patronize me, Guntor.”
Post as if you were a danged grow-up and we have a deal.
Again, Guntor. Don’t patronize me. It only makes you look small.
Romney also dissed Cain for lack of electoral experience.
