WASHINGTON — The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee says the alleged Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States may be an act of war against the U.S.

Sen. Carl Levin says he wants to study the implications of using the term before deciding it applies. But the Michigan Democrat said the alleged scheme might be an act of war, and was certainly a serious threat to the U.S.

Levin told reporters that either way, there should be a serious response by the U.S. He declined to say what that response might be.

WAR IS PEACE PRIZE, Liberal Ignorance Is Strength.

Obama said in 2009 that “Iran is a small country, no threat at all!”

Until his poll numbers hit ROCK-BOTTOM, that is...

Maybe he should also investigate our act of war against Mexico....selling battlefield grade weapons to Mexico’s major enemies, the Mexican drug cartels.

They went after a Saudi.

Why is that MORE of an act of war than the murder of Marines and other US heroes serving the American people? Iran has been at war with the US for decades.

“Here we go, start a war with Iran to get bambi re elected”

That’s the time tested stategy for unpopular despots. Unite behind the tyrant when there is an external threat. This needs to be repeated so that people will know why we may be getting involved in an unnecessary war. A war is just another campaign strategy. A war could also be the premise for suspending elections as recommended by NC gov Purdue.

Let the Saudis and Iranians knock each other off, it would be a win-win.

What would Iran gain to do something this pointless at this time? Invite the US to bomb them?

It works if the targeted country acts like a target and takes the beating. I won't say that Iran would prevail, but there are some capabilities that they have that could bring some nasty surprises.

I agree. Holder put the story out there and now it is walking away from them, with a life of its own. Maybe they didn’t think this through...
