The drug, known as “crocodile,” is synthesized from codeine and has been commonly used by as a substitute for heroin in Russia for the last few years. But its effects are much worse – some users have their skin peel off and parts of their bodies become gangrenous.

After they begin using, addicts typically have a life expectancy of just a few years.

Can’t buy what used to be common, over the counter cold medicines, either.

Is that for real?!?! For the love of God in heaven how do you live with that? How can she even be moving that arm?

Maybe we just need to spend another trillion dollars on "enforcement". After all, "more government" is the answer to everything else... Right?

I hate Socialism. Even when it wears a Right-wing mask.

Bending or unbending your arm is mostly a bicep and tricep muscle action. It’s just a question if she’s able to bend her fingers.

She’s probably going to get that amputated.

Oh yeah... As an addendum, the tissue damage seen above isn't from the drug itself but the impurities of making it at home or in back alley "labs".

You just up and shoot any old crap into your veins and bad things will happen to you.

But... Let's keep treating the symptoms with a "drug war" instead of going after the disease itself. After all, we've been "fighting" drugs since the 1920's and we're making a lot of headway... Right?

No good comes from drug use??

Have you ever relaxed after work with a beer amongst your friends???....hmmm... fun and companionship. "Nothing good ever comes from drugs".

No, your statement is 100% false.

Nothing good ever comes from the abuse of drugs - now that's something I can agree with.

The trouble is, the "law" can't determine the difference - between abuse and non-destructive recreational use and as such is a VERY bad tool to use against the scourge of drug ABUSE.

I don't care if someone goes home and smokes pot after dinner.
I DO care if a crack addict robs my house.

The law doesn't differentiate between them - and THAT is why it is evil.

Our entire system of justice was set up to be "innocent until proven guilty". In the War on Some Drugs, you are assumed guilty - and that is both immoral and wrong. Yes, innocent people are hurt. They always are. As I am sure you know by your screen name, freedom isn't free - and sometimes it takes the blood of the most innocent. You can't protect everybody from everything - and most of all - you can't protect them from themselves. My nephew died from an OD, I am intimately acquainted with the evils of drug abuse.

But, I am MUCH more scared of the evil of losing my freedom to a nanny-state government.

Drugs, I can CHOOSE to do or not do them

I have no choice when the Federal government tells me to do something.

I prefer the freedom to choose.

I'm not such a pathetic human that I require chemicals to relax among friends.

It's a fact that drugs are both addictive and mind altering. When one loses their ability to control their actions bad things happen. Just ask the many children who have been abused and killed by their druggie parents.

It's sad that you've seen the effects of drug use firsthand but still choose to be a fool.

It is a fact that absolutely nothing positive comes from drug use.

Guess that night in Cozumel that I've been remembering so fondly all these many years wasn't a positive afterall.

Am I the only one that doubts the authenticity of these photos and their connection to the alleged drug? The last picture looks like a cheap Halloween prop.

Gee, help me out here. When did fed and/or state gov’ts pass a death penalty for first time drug distribution? And when was the last time the fed gov’t obliterated a known drug lord’s compound?

I must have missed something.

By the way, what would you suggest be done to get illegal drugs under control? I don’t mind criticism, but I do mind criticism without alternative and effective solutions. And telling me there is no solution is the coward’s way out.

Ok, you've never had a beer, I can respect that....never liked the stuff myself...but... an aspirin? Any sedation for surgery?? They are ALL drugs. Propofol, the drug which killed Michael Jackson is used every day to allow surgery to save peoples lives. Penicillin?? They are ALL drugs. And, if you took any of them in excess, you would in most cases, die.

"Nothing good ever comes from drugs".

As I said, PLENTY of good comes from drugs. You want to blame the weakness of man on the drugs....like blaming the gun for the murder. Yes, they are seductive for some people...but so is power of holding peoples lives in their hands at the point of a gun for others.

"It's sad that you've seen the effects of drug use firsthand but still choose to be a fool."

No. I am not a fool. I, however, will allow others the freedom to be fools themselves.
No. I am not a fool. Nor am I foolish enough to think that fools will be deterred by foolish laws. Like gun laws, the drug laws only actually hurt the "least guilty" and innocent. The cartels and producers endure.
No. I am not a fool. Nor am I a fool enough to entrust a government with that much power.

As I've said many times:
Go ask your average high school Senior to get you some pot, meth, ecstasy or other drug - and they can probably get it within 15 minutes.
Go ask them to get you a six pack of beer and they will have MUCH more trouble. Heck, it's easier for them to get drugs than friggin' CIGARETTES!!
Why?...It's legal and regulated.

So, while it may make you feel better and safer and more morally upstanding, the actual truth is that you work to erode freedom with laws that are not only tyrannical, they actually completely fail to achieve their purpose! In fact, they actually achieve the opposite of their intent.

I also must have more faith in my fellow men.
In the same way I trust my fellow citizens to carry guns everywhere I go - which can be used to directly kill me (although illegal in my state(sigh)), I also trust them with drugs (which CAN'T harm me directly).

I have never understood that "logic".

I’ve had plenty of beers but I don’t need alcohol to enjoy life or socialize!

No, I don’t have faith in my fellow man druggie because I’ve seen what becomes of it in most cases.

Drugs, when used for medical purposes, are perfectly acceptable. Using them to alter your state of mind because you need to escape from your pathetic existence is not.

Oh and my wife’s a pharmacist so nice try but penicillin and heroin are a tad different...

Touche.

I found the photos on a Russian drug-rehab website. I concede it’s possible they could be of something else. As to the third photo, unfortunately film is a 2-dimensional medium, so it’s kind of difficult to tell. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t want MY arm to look like that, regardless.

I don’t know how old the photo is, but at the rate of deterioration of her forearm, she won’t need to worry about amputation.....it’ll fall off by itself.

In seriousness, that looks too far gone to save (in my non-medical opinion). I would imagine by now, that arm is in the biohazard bin.

FIGHTING THE SCOURGE OF DRUGS IS ANTI-FREEDOM!

PROSECUTING DRUG DEALERS IS ANTI-FREEDOM

LEGALIZE MURDER! PEOPLE WILL DO IT ANYWAYS!

It's a fact that drugs are both addictive and mind altering.

The misconception seems to be that this "fact" constitutes establishment of an enumerated power.

Dude, have your physician up your dosage.

You need help, serious, qualified psychiatric help.
