Two days ago President Obama authorized the deployment to Uganda of approximately 100 combat-equipped U.S. forces to help regional forces “remove from the battlefield” – meaning capture or kill – Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony and senior leaders of the LRA.

The forces will ultimately go to Uganda, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the permission of those countries.

The president made this announcement in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, Friday afternoon, saying that “deploying these U.S. Armed Forces furthers U.S. national security interests and foreign policy and will be a significant contribution toward counter-LRA efforts in central Africa.”

Great....my tax dollars at work....combating gang wars in some African sh$thole.

How about sending troops in to Deetroit, Cleveland, LA, Philadelphia, NYC, St. Louis, Miami, and all along the U.S./Mexican border, to combat the gang wars going on there?

Bush lied people died!

Obama’s thoughts “Gee, it was a lot easier when I was nothing more than an opportunistic opposition politician jumping on all these issues with unrealistic solutions that simply sound good while berating the sitting administration.”

Fortunately for him, the opposition in his case supports the troops and isn't willing to “play games” with national security concerns (exception Ron Paul). So he gets a green light and doesn't get the endless barrage of ridiculous accusations and attacks from across the isle with an aiding and abeting media, just like HE DID.

Using Bush policy statements 3 weeks before the Iraq war, less than 18 months after 9/11,, to explain how “some” would justify some Obama Tears of the Sun remake with real American kids.

Interesting,,,.

How many wars are we in now?

If we have to ask we can't afford it.

Where are all those protesters against us being the world police? Zero is starting
so much crap the next (R) President will be blamed for everything. But then we know that.

So what happens when a president goes against the constitution?
I've seen nothing so far, we may as well elect dictators.

"Fortunately for him, the opposition in his case supports the troops and isn't willing to “play games” with national security concerns"

But we really have no national security concerns in this situation. I'm not commenting on the righteousness of the cause one way or another, I just don't see that national security is at stake here.

Kony is a bad dude.

Evidently so, from the Wiki article.

However, I'm not sure I entirely trust Wiki; someone could go in and edit articles overnight, in preparation for an event like this.

I suspect that the atrocities of one side are as bad as the others, and the white hat goes to whoever makes it to Geneva or Brussels and gets their story in the media first.

Obama would no doubt use Bush’s statements to justify this.

Maybe Bush should have been more specific and put more limitations. Maybe an oversight on his part. I don’t know.

Obama can change these objectives of course.

How many administrations have there been since people have been asking for help in these crummy little places in Africa?

Watch Machine Gun Preacher. It is a good movie. Kony kidnaps children and uses them as soldiers.

Here is an article from The Independent in 2010.

I was looking at some other info. Apparently Uganda was supporting the rebels in South Sudan (primarily Christian) against their historical enemies in Sudan proper, so the Islamic radicals in Khartoum began supporting the LRA.

No. I was just referring to the President despatching American troops all over the place wherever it suits him without a formal declaration of war.

Even still, I'm against the War Powers Act. Whenever Congress gets involved everything becomes a negotiation, that's how you end up with, "you can go, but you can't bomb" or something like that. The Congress should have no say in how the Military performs and should only have the power to declare war. If they don't like what he's doing then cut off his money.

It's a lot of power, but it keeps our Military able to act in their own best interest, which is why you don't elect an admitted drug using, un-vetted community organizer to the most Powerful Office on the planet!

This may be interesting. Just started reading it, but it seems like they tried to get the “facts”. not propaganda.

OK already, I know now. I was too eager and jumped on something Rush said about the group. Rush needs to do homework himself.

Wonder what the real truth is?

just remember who ‘invented’ the internet.. and who pollutes it.. sometimes unwittingly, sometimes so. 8-]

Rush ain’t perfect,, close but no cigar occasionally and not by choice more by volume of background material out there these days.. Trust but Verify still works for me tho.. we battle dark forces daily, some become our allies along the way.. different strokes for some including large blades and slavery.. Things change. yada yada.. The UN did a bang-upjob in Africa more than once in the past,, stay tuned.
