The more I see establishment politicians from both sides attacking it the more I know it must be good. They're all hysterical about it. Rove, Romney, Santorum, against it. All Libs against it. Why?

Because it alters the landscape and makes a tax code that is readable and understandable on one page. Ive heard alot of criticism about how Cain is oversimplifying a complicated issue. EXACTLY! Thank GOD!!

I was watching Cain on Meet the Depressed today. David Gregory basically admitted that it would be a tax hike on those currently paying nothing. All I could think was that Gregory is basically admitting that the OWS protest is a sham. How can the “poor” be paying the lions share of the taxes (according to OWS) and yet be paying nothing(as Gregory pointed out)?

Let's see if a sense of spite against the 50% who haven't been paying any taxes for years is strong enough to make Tea Partyers forget that we were looking for smaller government and lower taxes, not just a new distribution to support the ever growing DC monster.

Got to give it to Cain, he found a way to distract Tea Partyers from our original goals.

You to Girl/Boy!

I am happy to see at least one Freeper who strongly supports the present tax system as it now stands with the tens of thousands of pages of tax laws on file.

WTG, ngat! You must either be a tax accountant or an IRS agent. ; )

“Some people will pay more. But most people will pay less,”

Illegal aliens, drug dealers and hookers will pay more.

Law abiding American citizens will pay less.

Oh yeah no doubt... Why does the Republican establishment pretend the media is actually is objective is beyond me?

Any time a Republican candidate goes to the media.. treat is like the Democrats are interviewing you. It’s NEVER going to be fair.

If the media was REALLY conservative, then OBAMA would have never made it to the White House.

999, as a concept, is nothing new. It has deep roots in the two major tax reforms plans that conservatives have been pushing and pushing for DECADES: the Fair Tax and the Flat Tax.

Anyone who is not pushing major tax reform is simply not serious about addressing our country’s problems — or serious about preserving our freedom. Yes, it is that dire.

Oh, and freepers generally don’t worry about hurting someone’s feelings by giving their honest, thought-out opinion on one of the most important debates ever to gain traction in a primary season.

Zero-payers going to something-payers is an increase.

A very well deserved increase. If you get something from the rest of us, you have to have some skin in the game.

It may even cause some of the "tax eaters" to rethink their voting patterns once they see their tax rates go up as politicians promise more goodies.

So excellent, it must be repeated.

Got to hand it to the Perrybots ability to ignore all fact in order to cling to their Perry worship.

The growth of our out of control Federal Government starts with the implementation of the income tax.

As long as you give politicians a potentially unlimited income stream, as the income tax does, they will find ways to spend it.

We can cut and cut and cut but the spending always comes back. Reagan cut the most of any modern President and the spending came back plus more.

Until you address the revenue side, Federal Spending is not going to be controlled no matter how much any President cuts.

You have to limit the Congress’s ability to spend and borrow money (Cut, Cap, and tax) but then you also need to limit it’s revenue stream. 9-9-9 does that.

The genius of 9-9-9 is, for the 1st time, there is a leading Presidential Candidate putting out a plan to limit Fed revenue. The key components is the sale tax. By spreading a lower tax burden to all Americans he creates an insurmountable problem for any future tax raises.

How do you convince people to give you more taxes when they personally know they will pay for the tax hike?

See the trick now is Congress can always disguise any tax hike by hiding it inside the overly complex tax code. By tweaking around the edges with the tax code they can gradually and systematically raise taxes with virtually no one noticing.

9-9-9 eliminates that ability to “tinker around the edges” of a mind numbingly complex tax code

If you don’t think that the 999 plan - or a Fair Tax Plan - or a Flat Tax plan - is pure Tea Party 101 — then with all due respect, you don’t understand these plans or the tea party mindset.

A flat income tax is a good thing. A national sales tax is not.

By admitting that rather short, shallow statement, you also admit that you either fail to grasp or choose to ingnore the concept of embedded corporate and other 'cost of doing business tax' in everything produced and sold. Make that a flat rate also and businesses will be able to compete on price point and their own efficiency of producing, rather than setting their prices to pay the cost of taxation. Prices will drop. The sales tax will result in leveling them back out. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effect_of_taxes_and_subsidies_on_price). Not to mention the added dollars in pockets reducing the elasticity of demand (actually driving demand up) which will result in more production - hence, MORE EMPLOYMENT.

“Can’t we just add Politico to the list of crap sites like KOS and others?”

I’m sure that a lot of us are in total agreement.

Politico is a combo of KOS, Demo Underground and Rinos like Romney.

The Fair Tax has always been one of the mainstays of any of the Tea Party platforms that I’ve ever seen. This is a logical step in that direction, and Cain has said so on several occasions.

Let us assume prices do not go down. Let us assume Business just pockets the tax cut as you say.

Fine, that is much better for average citizens then the Fed Government getting it.

The money the business saves on taxes either gets paid out in dividends (think increases to your 401k or pension fund), get invested in building the business (i.e. more economic activity and more jobs) or gets put in the bank (increase in capital available for investment and economic growth by new businesses which thus lower interest rates for all borrowers of any sort-credit cards, student loans, mortgages etc.)

But that will not happen. If Business A pockets the tax cut, his competitors who have less of his market share will not in order to undercut Business A's sales base. Over time Business A will have to either cut prices to stay competitive or lose market share and profits. No one will “wait around” because their is a competitive advantage for the smaller companies to undercut the dominate business's price structure and gain market share.

So either way 9-9-9 is a win for average citizens at the expense of Big Government and it's cronies.

Your taxes will not be hiked. That just the latest smear attack being pushed by the Romney/Perry machine.
