I’m with you on that. Career politicians are the most vile curse on America. I count “has never held elected office” as a HUGE plus.

It’s the idea of allowing the federal government to impose a tax in intra-state sales.

Good point, another chink in the armor of federalism this could be.

"Some people will pay more. But most people will pay less," Cain, a former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza who has never held elected office, said on NBC's "Meet the Press" program.

What the heck does Cain not ever holding an elected office have to do with the topic?

No just the latest Romney/Perry camp smear attack

Really is much smarter if you actually read the article rather then just post based on the fraudulent headline.

Exactly, he’s getting hit from both sides. The welfare sponges collecting the gubmint dole are incensed they’ll actually have to give something back into the system, while the crony capitalist corporate welfare receiving tax loophole exploiters are furious they won’t be able to avoid paying taxes like Timmy Geithner.

Easy there, how bad can a curse be for crying out loud?

but whenever you point out that the focus should be on reducing the Federal Government instead of authorizing higher taxation, you get flamed by those have decided Cain is their leader.

999 does not "authorize higher taxation." It significantly lowers the overall tax burden on the economy and it significantly lowers or eliminates the costs of compliance and tax regulation.

The focus on reducing the overall tax burden and eliminating the tax code and eventually the IRS as well as the entire tax compliance industry IS focusing on "reducing the Federal Government."

Those are one and the same thing. You cannot reduce the Federal Government without simplifying its revenue streams and making them more accountable to the people, which is what 999 does.

When you put a knife in the tax code, you automatically cut off thousands of Fedzilla tentacles that reach everywhere and deep into our economy as well as our society.

Since 47% of Americans pay ZERO federal income taxes now, and who have trended to vote more dollars away from of the 53% who do pay taxes now toward themselves, I see this as a major plus. You want to talk about everyone ‘paying their fair share’? This is it.

A flat income tax is a good thing. A national sales tax is not.

I think it’s funny how the out of touch media views that as a bad thing. It’s not like he could possibly do any WORSE than our current group of go along to get along career politicians.

The Feds already do that now with Gas for your vehicle. All gas has Federal Taxes.

The more you consume, then the more tax you pay. Seems logical and fair to me.

The great thing is YOU control how much you are taxed based on consumption.

Plus I love how G.E., Google, etc will not be able to hide from taxes. Oh and don't forget all the Illegals that will FINALLY be contributing to our tax code instead of leaching off of it.

Since we’re talking David Gregory here, just pointing out as an aside that his wife, Beth Wilkinson, was the General Counsel of Fannie Mae (working for her good friend, Jamie Gorelick), and she pocketed millions in taxpayer money for the Gregory family.

“You need to sit down, with a calculator, learn details of 9-9-9-9 plan,...”

No, I don’t need to waste my time with that because 999 is nothing but a catchphrase somebody dreamed up for an election campaign that is going nowhere. Rick Santorum immediately let that cat out of the bag last Tuesday night when he just came out and said such a proposal would never pass in the Congress. Who would introduce something so preposterous as this?

I think people have held off ridiculing this 999 thing because they don’t want to hurt the feelings of any of the suckers who have fallen for it.

You really think companies are going to lower the prices of their products when they pay less taxes?

We already know what they will do, we saw the airlines do it when the FAA bill extension didn't go through, they kept it. They, just like the rest of the business out there who have cut to the bone trying to survive, needed the money.

If Cain's plan passes everyone at first will hold on to the extra profit and then wait for everyone else to drop their prices, but since everyone is waiting for someone else, it will never happen.

Actually, becoming CEO of a corporation does require being elected, by the Board of Directors, and sometimes by a majority of the shareholders, IIRC.

Bingo!!

When 47% of the population pays no taxes at all, yes, MANY of those will have to start.

I'll go Cain one better. I think taxpayers should seek reparations from all the freeloaders who haven't paid anything for years. (That's a joke, more or less)

The 40-some % who pay no income tax are the core constituency of the Leftist revolution.
