Does Susan Sarandon's OWS support have anything to do with selling $40 sweaters?
Daily Mail ^ | 22nd October 2011

She is just one of the legions of celebrities who have dropped by the Occupy Wall Street protests to show their support... and perhaps gain a few column inches.

But critics have pointed to the timing of it Susan Sarandon's support of the protest and the launch of a her as the face of clothing manufacturer Uniqlo.

Her latest appearance was to support a Teamsters protest on Tuesday and the 65-year-old Oscar winner has stopped by the Occupy Wall Street encampment in Zuccotti Park several times since September 27.

Two weeks ago, the Dead Man Walking star was revealed as the new face of Uniqlo, an ultra-trendy clothing retailer aimed at young people. The store is said to be a cheaper version of the GAP.

Today, an ad that painted Sarandon as a 'mother, actor and activist' appeared in the NY Post, hawking ‘Extra Fine Merino Crew Neck Cardigan’ sweaters for $39.90. At an event marking the opening of the clothing manufacturer’s Fifth Avenue store, she said: 'I like the simplicity and quality of the clothing - and the colours and the prices.'

She later donned a tacky jacket covered entirely in the Uniqlo logo, a move seen as cheap way to make a buck. She is one of 30 faces of the J+ collection, which is fronted by supermodel Arizona Muse and also includes actress Laura Linney and Glee's Darren Criss.

Sarandon came under a firestorm last week when she referred to the pope as a ‘Nazi’ during the Hamptons Film Festival on New York’s Long Island.

Her remark drew quick criticism from Catholic groups , who said the quip 'bespeaks unparalleled ignorance.'

The ADL, which fights anti-Semitism, called on Sarandon to apologise to the Catholic Community.

In a statement, it said: 'Ms Sarandon may

I am a real Teamster in the private sector for a company that I am proud to work for.

I am outraged. Saran wrap wearing a Teamster jacket. She has never lifted a damn box or shifted a gear in her elitist fake acting, useless life.

She does not represent me and many others who go to work every day who actually have to sweat to keep us in business.

The woman is a psychopath, named her first male born child “Jack Henry” after killer Jack Henry Abbott. And if that doesn’t convince you:

In the 2008 U.S. presidential election, Sarandon and Tim Robbins campaigned for John Edwards in the New Hampshire communities of Hampton, Bedford and Dover. When asked at We Vote ‘08 Kickoff Party “What would Jesus do this primary season”, Sarandon said, “I think Jesus would be very supportive of John Edwards.”

Nuff said.

Then how did liberal elitists like that absolute a-hole Jimmy Hoffa get elected then? These SOBs are selling you guys out, embarassing you every day. I can’t believe that the majority of Teamsters are Marxists that would elect these idiots, so what is it? Voter fraud? Then why don’t you guys go to the AG and get these bums thrown in jail? Look what they are doing, dressing this psychopath Sarandon in your jacket. This is a woman, pig more like it, who named her first male born child “Jack Henry” after killer Jack Henry Abbott, an animal who stabbed to death a 22 year old waiter named Rich Adan who had the audacity to tell Jack he couldn’t use the batheroom. She was at Abbotts trial almost everyday like a Manson girl kissing that animals arse. Now I KNOW you guys do not support that! Yet your reps are. What’s wrong with this picture?

I did not vote for Hoffa. He is up for election this month. A good sign is that nobody that I work with is talking about who they voted for. That could mean that Hoffa could get beat by Fred Gegare or Sandy Pope in a 3 way race.

Now and then I pray for Susan for one reason, her mom and dad. They, from what I have followed, are good Christians and I am sure they are saddened for the path their daughter has taken. For them, I pray for her salvation.

From the website of the Revolutionary Communist Party, founder of the, um, "peace" groups "World Can't Wait and Not In Our Name, among others...

Revolutionary Worker #1193, March 30, 2003, posted at http://rwor.org

On October 6, 2002, Susan Sarandon told a crowd of over 25,000 people in Central Park that until that day she'd been "feeling soooo alone"--but after the turnout that day, she was taking heart. That day marked a new beginning, the start of the last six months of upsurge and struggle against the Bush war plans.

But with that upsurge came a number of journalistic attacks on the movement. Oddly enough, these were first centered in liberal publications by journalists claiming to have progressive credentials. The argument was fairly crude, really: that because there were communists and socialists among the leaders of two of the principal coalitions (the Not in Our Name Project and International ANSWER), these movements would not be able to speak to the American public and were doomed to ineffectiveness. The authors larded their argument with distortions and, in some cases, outright inventions and lies. (See RW #1178, "Setting the Record Straight on Revolutionaries in the Antiwar Movement," on line at rwor.org)

These oh-so-helpful and of-course-very-sincere advisers proved to be wide of the mark; the various coalitions spoke to ever more millions of American people--and people overseas as well-- and the movement grew and spread. On the whole, the movement did not fall for this red-baiting and distancing; and this line of attack basically failed.

Of late, however, there has been a more serious attack from somewhat different quarters. This new attack builds on certain themes from the previous ones, but introduces a new and dangerous element into the mix.

Now the attackers include the National Review magazine, the New York Post , and the website of the Free Congress Organization. All three of these are important players in current administration, with links into and out of the White House and Justice Department. Yes, they are far right- wing--but in this day and age, the far right wing is calling the shots. So we'd best take heed.

These outlets have singled out certain individuals--C. Clark Kissinger, Ramsey Clark, and Rev. Lucius Walker--and certain groups--most notably Not in Our Name, International ANSWER, Refuse and Resist, Workers World Party, and the Revolutionary Communist Party. They have continued the earlier red-baiting themes and have added something new and sinister--a serious escalation--to the mix, in the form of calls for government investigations of these groups and individuals. ..."

Note: ANSWER was founded by Workers World Party. However, ANSWER is now under the control of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL). PSL is an offshoot of Workers World Party. Susan Sarandon has been closely affiliated with ANSWER since its beginning.--ETL

The RCP calls for the violent overthrow of the U.S. government...

From the website of the Revolutionary Communist Party (revcom.us or rwor.org) :

"Create Public Opinion, Seize Power: We are preparing minds and organizing forces for the time when there is a major crack in the system, whenever it comes and wherever it comes from: an opening that makes it possible to bring the future Revolutionary Army of the Proletariat (R.A.P.) into the field and wage a revolutionary armed struggle that actually has a chance of winning.

And we have said that building our party itself is the most important part of organizing forces for revolution. This is true now, and it is true looking forward to the creation of that future R.A.P. and the waging of that armed struggle.":

From David Horowitz's FrontpageMag.com /DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
"Throughout its history, one of RCP's [Revolutionary Communist Party's] principal objectives has been to foment civil unrest in the United States. The most notable example of such efforts occurred on April 29, 1992, when RCP members looted and trashed the downtown and government districts of Los Angeles, triggering the infamous Rodney King riots. During the days immediately preceding the violence, RCP -- which maintained close ties to the L.A. gangs known as the Crips and the Bloods -- had circulated throughout South Central Los Angeles a leaflet featuring a statement by RCP National Spokesman Carl Dix, titled 'It's Right To Rebel' -- a quote popularized by Mao Zedong.

Encouraged by Dix, RCP activists helped lead the riots that would leave 58 people dead, more than 2,300 people injured, some 5,300 buildings burned, and $1 billion in property damaged or destroyed. On the ten-year anniversary of the rioting, RCP member Joseph Veale fondly recalled the violence as 'the most beautiful, the most heroic civil action in the history of the United States.'"
