Super Secrecy of Debt 'Super Committee' Rubs Some Lawmakers the Wrong Way

rediculous because finding a little over $100 billion per year is freakin child's play. We're spending over $3.5 trillion. That's roughly a one-time 3% cut. In other words, freeze government for one year and the savings over ten years will achieve the mandate. The incompetence and corruption in Washington is unbelievable.

We all know that will never, ever happen. The current congress has absolutely no control over what future congresses will do. IMHO, this is a dog and pony show fraud.

Why not get practical and concentrate on cutting 500 billion by this time next year? That is very doable.

The Super Committee is, has been, and always will be a BAD IDEA. Congress-weasels must be held accountable and not outsource decision-making. Now, the lobbyists have targeted the SC members, so the corruption continues. BAD IDEA and should be outlawed from EVER occurring again. “Commissions” are a smoke screen to buy time, waste time, and provide a place for common sense to die a slow death. Name a “successful” commission where the work product was actually used. Oh yeah, Bowles-Simpson was a GREAT example.....ugh....

I am sorry, but you are using the wrong type of logic when you, like most of us living outside the Beltway, declare the concept of the Super Committee a dumb idea (criminal is more likely the truer classification).

With the political divide between liberals and others added to the vitriol expressed by our current ruler, Congress was going to self destruct. By self destruct I don't mean be destroyed as you and I think of it, I mean most of the current members wouldn't be reelected. Their non-reelection would mark the destruction of Congress as an institution - just ask them.

So, to provide themselves with political cover and attempt to create the illusion of accomplishing something significant (both acts are necessary for a successful reelection bid), Congress came up with this super committee. Any and all complaints and failures can be laid at the foot of this super committee - “I didn't do it, I was only following the recommendations (orders?) of the Super Committee”. Sound familiar to any one?

Points of fact:
1. The Super Committee is doomed to failure by its very make up - an all too common construct for Congress.
2. The fall back position of having DOD “share” of automatic cuts (50% cuts when its percentage of the budget is 20%) means the Super committee will deadlock upon its first meeting.
3. Increases in taxation is an alternative. We, those outside the beltway, know that the problem isn’t too little income it is too much spending.
4. This isn't he first time Congress has passed the buck when faced with making major actual cuts in spending - see the Base Realignment and Closure rounds (BRAC) 1988 - 2015.

Bottom Line - this is an attempt to avoid the duties we hired them to accomplish. The only remaining question is: Are we going to rehire an employee who doesn't do his duties?

The super committee is just one more piece of evidence demonstrating the Republican Party leadership is complicit with the economic looting of the nation. This is the McConnell/Boehner answer to the Tea Party activists whose efforts resulted in the election of a Republican House of Representatives. Once more the national Republican establishment happily kicked conservatives in the teeth after the election.

We can already see the fix is in for 2012. Romney will be the nominee and the Republican party establishment will once again try to scare the conservative base into voting for “moderate” socialism instead of four more years of radical marxism. If Romney wins the general election, and has a majority in the House and Senate, he’ll kick conservatives in the teeth and spend 4 years compromising with Pelosi, Reid and the mainstream press. At the end of 4 years he will have accomplished nothing and the Democrats will return to power with another overwhelming majority, as they did in 2008.

I’m afraid big money controls both political parties. There is zero incentive for the two political parties to reform the system or be responsive to the American people. The Constitution is almost dead. The letter of the Constitution is only considered by the three branches of government when convenient. As soon as the Supreme Court moves from its current 4 conservative, 4 progressive, and one swing vote balance to 5-4 with the progressive vote in the majority the Constitution will be completely dead and the tyrants will rule as they please.

I’m afraid those who believe the system can be reformed by winning by working within the system are wrong. Much as I’d like to believe we can turn the tide at the ballot box the current situation is no different than being an American colonist in 1774 and believing the King and Parliament will listen to reason. The elites in politics, academia, business, the media, and finance have too much invested in the statist dictatorship that is slowly snuffing out the flame of liberty. As we can see today with the attacks on the Tea Party, and the relentless campaigns of personal destruction against any candidate who calls for a return to Constitutional principles, the establishment will not give up its drive to control the lives of every citizen from cradle to grave.

The media destruction machine has effectively neutralized Palin, Bachmann, Ron Paul and Gary Johnson (they killed Johnson by not giving him any air time). They are now in full attack mode against the already wounded Perry and Herman Cain, not to mention Marco Rubio the potential 2016 contender. Even if the current Tea Party star Cain makes it to the primaries he has nowhere near the money Romney is accumulating to fund a ground game. Plus the well financed Obama ground team is poised to organize the Democrats in the states allowing crossover voting to get out the Democrat vote for Romney. Obama wants Romney as his opponent, the mainstream media wants Romney, Wall Street wants Romney, and the Republican establishment wants Romney. They will collude to make Romney the nominee no matter what the conservative base of the Republican Party wants. Don’t forget, these are the same people who gave us two Bushes, Dole, and McCain (not to mention Nixon and Ford). Reagan was an aberration and the establishment is determined there won’t be another real conservative standard bearer for the Republican Party.

We are in position of our founding fathers in 1774. The tyranny of a powerful and oppressive government is interfering in the everyday lives of the population and finding new ways to tax the productive members of the society. Unfortunately in 2011 there are no emerging patriot leaders willing to publicly risk their lives, reputations, and fortunes speaking out directly against the established order. Our “leaders” still seem content to work within the thoroughly corrupted system. Perhaps this is because in 2011 the wealthy and powerful are benefiting greatly from the system whereas in 1774 King George was threatening to take too big a cut from the New England merchants and southern plantation owners.

Who will step up and say “give me liberty or give me death” in 2011 or 2012? It certainly won’t be Romney, Gingrich, Huntsman, Perry, Cain, or the rest of the current Republican field with the possible exception of Ron Paul. Sarah Palin has dropped out, content to safely snipe from the sidelines while enjoying the income off her books and media commentary roles. I see no one willing to put at risk everything they own, much less their lives, to lead the fight against tyranny. They are all part of the corrupt system.

In 1776 it is estimated 1/3 of the people were for revolution, 1/3 were loyalists, and 1/3 didn’t care. We likely have the same mix today — 1/3 for individual liberty, 1/3 for statist socialism, and 1/3 who are happy to stay at home and watch television. In 1776 the 1/3 minority who wanted “change” decided to overcome the wishes of 2/3 who were satisfied with the status quo. In 2008 the 1/3 who wanted socialism convinced enough of the television watchers to come over to their side to gain control. In 2010 the 1/3 for individual liberty rallied enough of the television watchers to swing the vote in the House but then watched the establishment stomp out the counter revolution and resume politics as usual.

No doubt in 2012 the forces of tyranny will do anything to win while those in leadership positions who say they are for liberty will cower in fear of media disapproval or being called racist. Romney, like McCain in 2008 is not going to do what it will take to beat Obama, the media, and the establishment. As a moderate socialist, and member of the ruling elite, his ego requires he be well liked by his fellow elites. Unfortunately, as Leo Durocher, so smartly stated, “Nice guys finish last”. Durocher also said something the Obama and his fellow travelers understand all too well, “Win any way you can as long as you can get away with it.”

I’m glad somebody else has realized the super committee is unconstitutional.
