CONCORD, New Hampshire (Reuters) - Texas Governor Rick Perry renewed his attack on Republican presidential rival Mitt Romney as untrustworthy, and defended Texas illegal immigration policy that has been criticized by conservative Republicans.

Campaigning in New Hampshire, Perry accused the former Massachusetts governor of changing positions on gun control, the causes of global warming and government health insurance mandates.

He is seeking to chip away at Romney's big lead in the polls in a key early primary state, and arrest his own slide in national surveys.

"Like it or not the governor has been on the opposite side of a lot of issues," Perry said during a live interview with conservative activist and New Hampshire Republican gubernatorial candidate Ovide Lamontagne.

If Perry wants to attack Romney... I say, more power to him!

It wont help Perry, and who knows he might actually hurt Romney eventually :)

You guys should be rooting him on!

I'm all for Perry attacking Romney. I just can't overlook the gross hypocrisy in his statement;

"Like it or not the governor has been on the opposite side of a lot of issues,"

This guy continues to make one stupid comment after another.

Yes, like; "Juarez [MX] is the most dangerous city in America".

He must really be for open borders as he apparently doesn't even know one is there.

You would think so, this is a story about Perry attacking Romney - but still they attack Perry instead of Romney.

Juarez is an American city, Einstein.

You are implying he thinks that Juarez is in the US...that isn't what Perry said.

Wait, am I reading the article right - is Perry now referring to illegal aliens as “tax wasters” and implying that we should make them tax payers instead? How about calling them criminals since that’s what they are. I’m tired of this “undocumented worker”, “Texas resident”, and now “tax waster” bullshit Perry and some of others have been pushing. They are criminals, period. We need to stop it with the PC games.

He is talking about kids that are going to college who were brought into Texas by their parents when they were young and have lived here most of their lives.

What crime did they commit?

They are undocumented but they are not criminals.

You think kids that were brought over the border by their parents while they were young are criminals?

Do you think kids who’s parents committed a theft makes the kids thieves too?

It is not PC - it is just a fact that they committed no crime (the kids).

Are those kids here legally or not?

Does going to college somehow make them legal?

“We could kick these people to the side of the road and then we’ll have to pick up the costs of whatever those social programs they’re going to be eligible for,” he said. “We’re going to either have tax wasters or tax payers.”

Ricardo, still trying to defend the indefensible.

Poor fellow just doesn’t get it. I guess he really is a moron.

Yes they are.

If Mexican kids are entitled to free education in the US, why would they want to go to school in Mexico?

Dear Mom7, (First - excuse be for butting in. Now to the point)

For argument's sake let's say I agree with you -- and Perry -- about tax paying U.S. Citizens and Legal Resident Aliens of a U.S. State picking up the tab for in-state college tuition for 'children' of illegal aliens.

Then (hypothetically) in the near future I get elected Governor of Illinois -- which like Texas passed a law a few years ago giving 'children' of illegal aliens in-state college tuition (fact). However here in Illinois we have a huge problem, and that is, we are broke (another fact). We are Billions in the Red and are so broke that Contractors doing state work don't get paid, or it takes six months to a year to see some of their money if they do at all. And every year we have to borrow Billions just to pay last year's outstanding bills. Needless to say our budget hasn't been balanced since .... Blago had a crew-cut (a little humor always helps).

It then gets to the point that we (IL) can't borrow any more money or issue any Bonds and now I'm faced with tough choices and have to start cutting. Nothing is off the table and every State Program is subject to the Axe. It's funding will be cut or even eliminated. This 'drastic action' will mean thousands of people will loss their jobs, their families could go hungry or without clothes. But worse, tax paying U.S. Citizens and Legal Resident Aliens of the U.S. who really DO need help from one of those eliminated Programs will no longer be able to get it.

However, out of the blue lightening strikes and a miracle happens. Old Frank the Bookkeeper over at the State Treasurer's Office gets out his crank handled adding machine and starts going through the books. VIOLA! He finds that the cost of in-state college tuition for 'children' of illegal aliens, plus all their ancillary costs to the state from those children's families is what's making Illinois bankrupt. And if we just eliminated that 'freebie' by repealing that law and treated those 'children' like any other foreign student the Budget could be balanced.

Because not only would those college students be paying higher tuition, but since they are not supposed to be here in the first place, many illegal alien families, including these 'children', would just pack up and go back to Mexico, or wherever they came from. They would self-deport en masse. This self-deportation action now relieves the state of the cost burden placed on Elementary Schools, Police and Fire Departments, Hospitals and Clinics, and on the State Programs originally meant to help tax paying U.S. Citizens and Legal Resident Aliens which now, would NOT have to be eliminated (see: ancillary costs).

Now this would surly be considered by some as 'heartless', 'bigoted', and 'racist' by the bleeding heart leftists, the open-no border crowd, and RINOs. But my responsibility as the Governor of my state is first to The People of Illinois. Which means in English: Tax paying U.S. Citizens and Legal Resident Aliens.

I know this will not sway any of you Perrybots. You will defend Perry to the end on this (and all his blunders). Just keep in mind that Texas isn't the only state with this 'illegal freebie'. But unlike Texas WE in IL had it shoved down our throats by the Daley Machine puppets in Springfield and his IL GOP RINO cohorts. And WE don't like it one fricken bit!

Also, with this Texas freebie for 'children of illegals' -- what's the difference, if any, if the 'child' is from Mexico (or any Hispanic descent), China, Burma, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Yeman, Syria, Bhutan, Angola, or .. Burkina Faso (Upper Volta)? Are Texas' arms and colleges open to any illegal 'child', or only Mexicans.

Lastly, 'if' every illegal in IL - all Two Million of them at least - decided to Move To Texas for the College Freebie how would you like that? Are you ready to open your pockets wider and dig deeper for cash. As I'm suuuuure your TAXES wouldn't go UP that much. Or better yet, every illegal in the USA moved to Texas, all Thirty Million of them. How'd you 'guys like that? (LOL)

Although Romney needs “chiding,” Perry needs to focus on what HE plans to do if elected.
The last debate I watched was an absolute debacle for Perry harping on Romney’s employment of illegals to do his lawn.
It is the reason his numbers are so low.

Meanwhile, Cain IS JUST AWESOME.

Perry-peabrain must have a number of collosal insider deals for himself........this crass Me-First pol does nothing unless there’s something in it for him.

In exchange for amnesty, open borders, in-state tuition, reciting the Mexican Pledge of Allegiance, singing the Mexican ntl anthem in Texas schools, promising to facilitate reconquista from the WH.................vote-crazed Perry musta got big campaign pesos, absentee ballots plastered south of the border, and a nice percentage of Mexican foreign aid deposited offshore.

Keep in mind, Peabrain’s brought in a new team to manipulate the voters——as if that will erase the picture of Perry as an incoherent campaigner who slaps down those who disagree with him——IOW, a major a/hole.

Thanks for reminding me of that. I've been kind of busy of late and completely forgot about it. And apparently, so did Governor Perry. (/s)

Which begs the question:
What kind of Governor allows that type of *nonsense* to go on in his state's school system?

Forget Democrat or Republican. How about just plain ole AMERICAN whose Proud of the USA and all we have accomplished in our history. And all the millions of people world-wide we have supported, fought for - and DIED for - in defense of freedom and 'Old Glory', our Stars and Stripes.

To my knowledge Governor Perry has not said a peep about that little show of patriotism -- For Mexico! --- which went on under his watch. And that silence speaks volumes to me about the man that Governor Rick Perry really is. And, it isn't good.

At the best, he's just another pandering professional politician who'll do, or not do, anything to pander to a voting bloc of Mexicans in 'his state' of Texas. And at the worst, he is a coward who wishes it never happened, hopes it just goes away in the next news cycle, and is hiding under his bedsheets until it does.

In either case it has shown that 'the man' Rick Perry is unfit to be the President of the United States of America.

So as 'Uncle Walter' would say when he signed off after each night's news: "And that's the way it is!"

Could not agree more. Perry's main concern is advancing himself in any way possible. Americans, America, US ntl security.....none of this figures in his relentless political climb.

He'll suckup to anything for a few votes.

He thought his Texas MO would work on the ntl level----he got the biggest surprise of his life as he sank into oblivion.
