Steve Forbes: Rick Perry will win the Republican nomination
The State Column ^ | Oct., 27, 2011 | Staff

Former presidential candidate and current media mogul Steve Forbes said Thursday the Texas Republican governor Rick Perry is likely to capture the Republican presidential nomination.

"He was good on taxes and spending in Texas; he was very good on tort reform. Texas has been a cesspool for injury lawyers, and he made major changes - and the proof of it was they all moved to Oklahoma. And obviously I like his ideas on a flat tax. I think he genuinely wants to get the thing done. So it seems to be a good combination," Mr. Forbes said in an interview with the Daily Beast Thursday.

Read the article instead of jumping to conclusions. You’ll learn why conservative Texas republicans do not support Perry.

Hey Steve, at one time you thought YOU would be President too. How did that turn out?

If/When she endorses one, will you back that candidate?

So, Steve Forbes has no problem with coddling illegals, abuse of imminent domain, misuse of public funds, nanny statism and lousy communication skills, just as long as Perry adapts his flat tax. Thanks for clearing that up.

Listen to Rick Perry speak..... he makes stuttering Obama sound like Ronald Reagan. Doesn’t matter what you stand for, have done, or promise to do..... if you can’t articulate your message in a coherent way, no one will buy what you’re selling.

It is strange that Forbes endorses Perry and his tax plan over Newt Gingrich’s, because from what I have seen it is similar to Newt’s plan, but not nearly as good. Newt probably developed his own plan, where someone probably wrote Perry’s for him, handed him the talking points on it, and sent him out in front of the cameras to sell it.

If you have heard Newt talk about his plan in depth, it is clear that he actually can PASS his plan. He is absolutely 100% convincing, and will attract Independents and probably moderate Democrats as well. Perry, not so much.

I don’t think Perry did adopt it per se. He said it would be an option for those that want it. Others can stick w the old system. How does that turn the 47% who pay no taxes into skin-in-the-gamers?

“If/When she endorses one, will you back that candidate?”

I don’t think that would make me decide one way or the other. I believe pretty firmly in making what I think is my best choice. It would have some weight, but I did not entirely agree with all of her endorsements, though I liked most of her positions. I think trust is a factor...and believability.

your lack of investigation concerning candidates is what continually leads us to nominees like obama, mccain, dole, etc. thanks for your service to the country.

In what way do you find Mr. Cain not socially conservative?

Steve isn’t taking the screaming emotional loony vote into account.

Actually he is counting on it. It is the only votes Perry can win.

Yeah, but at this point he would have to kill his rivals to do it, so it would have to be really bad to.reach the much worse scenario.

Perry’s record was always going to sink him if he ran.

The base wants a conservative, and he aint one

If Perry had a real shot he would have stepped down as Governor by now.

“In what way do you find Mr. Cain not socially conservative?”

Empowerment Zones confused the shit outta me. Using the government to choose winners and losers in business is not my understanding of a conservative philosophy at any level.

Sorry but the is PURE wishful thinking.

Like Newt's jumping on the Global Warming train, and his chastising Conservatives for not rallying behind Dede Scusaffasa in NY 23. Newt has a long record of talking a good game and being just another GOP Establishment water boy.

In a choice between Conservative principals and political expediency, Newt will go with expediency every time.

“Heartless”, tax payer paid education for anchor babies over others, can’t compete in debates and on and on.

I think Perry is a nice guy, but he has made himself a lame horse.

Romney/Cain ticket is a loser. Romney is McCain or Dole and they cannot be saved with Palin or Kemp in the co-pilot seat.

the only thing I can say in his favor is that if his disastrous start was a series of isolated incidents, at least it happened early. as in college football, if you have to lose a game, it’s better to lose the first one than the last one.

but I think there is a very good chance that he is just a really, really bad candidate.
