Herman Cain has been taking heat for his response to questions about Politico's story on alleged sexual harassment. But today on Morning Joe, it was Politico's own Jonathan Martin, lead author of the story, who was being evasive about the details of the allegations against Cain.
Incredibly, when Willie Geist asked him to describe specifically what Politico is accusing Cain of having done, Martin hemmed, hawed then ultimately said "we're just not going to get into the details of exactly what happened with these women," beyond the sketchy generalities in the Politico story.

you are right...if his story holds, and hopefully it will, he will come out of this stronger. IF the story is something like, “two disgruntled, terminated employees made wild allegations which were rapidly settled so as to avoid the cost of litigation” then I think this will go away quickly.
To give Rush credit: if this were a democrat, it would be a resume enhancer.

And can we surmise that until this story by the Politico you were 100% behind Herman?

This is how the Demonrats discuss issues of political interest. They lie. They change the subject. They make personal attacks. They did all three at once here.
Cain must be a real threat to their criminal empire.

Cain is not addressing the allegations this morning so far at AEI. But he will have to before the end of the day.
I have been involved in politics a long time. FOX is leading the charge against Cain.

Herman Cain (Kinda) Denies Sex Harass Claims
In a series of comments over the past 10 days, Cain and his campaign repeatedly declined to respond directly about whether he ever faced allegations of sexual harassment at the restaurant association. They have also declined to address questions about specific reporting confirming that there were financial settlements in two cases in which women leveled complaints.

I'm thinking it's a different drama queen...probably Karl Rove. This doesn't have the fingerprints of the dems on it; if there's any "there there" with this allegation, they'd hold this card 'til the general election, if Cain even gets the nomination. It's far more likely this stench arises from the camp of one of Cain's GOP rivals, and my guess would be Romney.
He did--for Democrats.
Donald Trump was on the phone with the Fox & Friends people this morning (Peter Johnson, Jr., sitting in for Steve Doocy), and his take was that Cain agreed to the payoff to avoid a costly lawsuit. The only thing he found troubling was that it has taken the Cain team so long to respond (apparently they had ten days before it became public--and of course Cain should have expected it to be publicized sooner or later).
Juan Williams on Geraldo last night was trying to say that the Democrats weren't behind the story because Cain is currently running against other Republicans. That doesn't hold water--the Democrats are interested in destroying any potentially strong Republican candidate now, hoping to have an easily-beatable person win the nomination by default, and the whole story has the smell of Democrat tactics.

Cain is obviously made of sterner stuff than you are, and will almost certainly come out of this ahead of the game.
Has anyone asked and/or answered the question as to how this ended up in the hands of Politico? Why Politico? Where’s the behind-the-scenes connecting of the dots as to how Politico came by this allegation story? (Gosh...this is on the news nonstop every frickin 30 minutes!)
This leak came from the Romney campaign. Or Karl Rove. Or some other inside-the-beltway GOP establishment type. They are THAT desperate to maintain their power.
