The lawyer for one of the Cain accusers, Joel P. Bennett, just told the panel on Anderson Cooper's CNN show that it was "his understanding" that the allegation was "leaked to Politico from a Board member of the National Restaurant Association".

Could it have been the former President of the NRA who took over after Cain left, who is a Romney supporter?

Well, J.P. Bennett is just a freaking genius, isn't he, given that Martin did everything but name the board member in the original Politico article:

"The first woman was identified to POLITICO by a former association board member, and her identity was confirmed by two additional sources.

The former board member recalled learning of the woman’s departure at a 1999 association board meeting and trade expo in Chicago.

“She was offered a financial package to leave the association, and she did,” said the former board member. “What I took offense at was that it was clear that rather than deal with the issue, there was an effort to hush it up. She was offered a way out to keep quiet.”

There are numerous organizations which go by the three letter acronym NRA.
Of course, the abbreviation is being used because it confuses the issue with one particular group most known for the abbreviation, just to upset people like you who will assume guns are somehow involved now.

It could still be the Dems. Maybe they planned to take out Cain and Romney at the same time. Take out Cain with a sexual harassment charge and leak that it was Romney. Two for the price of one.

I don't think it was Perry, because someone went after him with the “Nxxx” rock.

But it is interesting that the attorney is saying it was someone on the NRA board.

My vote is for Obama’s people, and next most likely is Romney's people.

I like Cain, but can he go two hours without giving an interview? He needs cool it on the interviews.

As the money has started to flow into the Cain campaign, you'll see him do fewer interviews.

He didn't have the money to advertise, so he chose the route less followed -- do every show you can get your face on. And deal with the consequences.

It was the only way a guy with a shoestring campaign chest could get exposure.

And it served him well.

Why would Cain jump into this and say that it could be democrats or it could be Republicans?

That’s a little offensive...I agree that Cain should cool it and shut up for a minute.

Is he keeping this alive for some reason? I wonder, because this whole smear has caused an upbeat in his fund raising.

This whole thing is getting a little weird.

Sadly, if it was from the Romney camp (my belief) we may never know. MSM has wants Romney as the candidate, just as they wanted McCain.

It would make sense that Romney is behind the attack. If Cain is guilty of harassment and the Dems knew about it, it would come out after we nominate Cain.

We need to vet this out. Don’t want a shoe to fall during the campaign.

What I’m kinda wondering is why this is still such a hot story ...

When did it break? About 5 days ago?

It seemed like a bogus story from the start. Altho I’m not a Cain supporter, I posted that opinion on the first thread ever about this.

It just seems like such a nothing story... who and what is keeping it alive?

I think it’s time for Cain to shut the lid on it. I think he should say that he’s explained he never harassed anyone and unless someone can prove more than what’s been proved, he’s moving on and not answering any more questions about it.

He might get a little criticism for that, but it would put a stop to it ... I think.

POTUS is a figure head a lot like the Queen of England but in Obama’s mind KING of America.

They may be the leader of the country but the laws that governed are separate.. i.e. made up buy the Legislative, governed buy the Judicial and carried out by the Executive branches. (Yeah you know this).

Obama is clueless yet a supposed constitutional scholar. We’ll see where that lead in the future.
