Perry Claims He Can Secure Border in One Year as President
Fox ^ | November 3, 2011 | Hannity interviews Gov. Rick Perry

Posted on 11/03/2011 8:46:48 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

....PERRY: Well, let me just put it this way. The federal government's complete and absolute failure to secure our border put a lot of pressure on governors no matter where they might be to have to deal with issues. You are required to give health care, you are required to give education. And Texans made a decision -- are we going to kick these people to the side of the road and they are going to become tax wasters? Or are we going to require that they become citizens of the United States and become taxpayers? We chose the latter. I would still do that today, considering the barriers that if you will, the arena that we have to work in.

As the president of the United States, I am against the DREAM Act. I will shut that border down because I have had to deal with it for 10 years. I understand. I am putting Texas Rangers and National Guard, I am putting Texas citizens on the line over there, they are being fired at. Thank God none of them have been killed yet. But the fact is, I know how to secure that border. When I am the president, that border will be secure. And these issues that we have been forced to deal with as governors, will start being alleviated. And then we can have a decent, a thoughtful and economically focused conversation about immigration policy.

HANNITY: So you think you could secure the border in what period of time if you're president?

PERRY: I think you can do it within a year. I mean, seriously, within a year --

The process for applying for in-state tuition is to have the prospective student sign an affidavit declaring their intention to get a green card. A state can't give anyone a 'path to citizenship.' I've been trying to keep up with this issue here, as I learn more. But I think I have a fairly balanced representation (with links to sources) of the in-state tuition program here. Reagan Man! Did you hear Perry compare debating to “spinning” in the US Air Force pilot school? I feel his pain.

Don’t you dare leave. You are honorable and patriotic. These Perry supporter fools are immoral and disgusting. We are fighting for the United States and these Perry illegal alien lovers are trying to destroy it. They are easily traitors to the United States of America with their immigration push for Amnesty.

Good lord. Why waste time with these anti-Perry trolls. They spew their DU talking points, lie their asses off, then do it again. Wonder if they get paid by the word or amount of spittle?

Waste of Time? No way. This is too important to America. I will spend every breath I have, until this liberal fraud drops out, spreading the message that Perry is a disastrous candidate and needs to be taken down. He is repulsive and should stay in Texas.

DU?! Just because someone doesn't agree with you they must be Dems? Or maybe ... just maybe ... some of us have seen Perry in action since Bush went to Washington and aren't fooled by his campaign talk. He campaigns on one thing then does the opposite once elected.

But don't take a Texan's word for it. Someone from Missouri must know better, right?

Having principles like myself and the rest of the folks who care for America than popularity on Free Republic is way more important. Perry is the worst candidate of the group besides Romney. The people here spreading this message are the patriots who although are not popular are doing the right thing. Principles over popularity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you and a few other Perry lovers don’t like us.........so what. We only care about America!!!!!!!!

Not sure what you're talking about.

The problems with Perry are ALL his own. The people on this site did not pass or support a bill to give in state tuition to illegal aliens. The people on this site did not call anyone heartless. Those the the two items and only those two items that brought him down. Why are you saying other things are what brought him down. Nobody on this site could have easily brought him down as he did himself. It was a masterpiece of destruction that Perry orchestrated. Nobody could have done better.

Very accurate statement. Why call someone a DU’er just because they don’t agree with you. Too bad if you don’t like the comment. I don’t care.

Your post #79. Apparently to my #60. You quote something, not from me, so I’m wondering what the point was.

He cannot be for border security and share the same vision of a common border with vincente fox

LLS, can I get your comment on my response to this talking point in #132?

Do you understand that a veto can’t override those numbers?? The signing is in reality, a time saver.

That is not the original statement that Perry made (and the one that has been posted here a few times) because he made it directly to vincente fox when they appeared together. He was speaking directly to fox. This sounds like a statement explaining his statement... and he cannot walk back subsidizing illegals on education etc or calling me a heartless person for standing against that action... no... Perry has been crystal clear on immigration... and I cannot support anyone that sees our Republic and illegal invading hoards the way that he does.

Thanks to you, every time I see a picture of Perry speaking to La Raza, I'm looking for the picture of Obama speaking to La Raza, because you've posted them side-by-side so many times now,

You've done an outstanding job of associating Perry and Obama with the racist organization La Raza. Kudos to you!

Sorry, in the meantime I found that the full video is posted on rickperry.org in one piece — but there are some interesting comments on the FR thread I posted with the video, from posters who actually watched the video and were favorably impressed by Perry.

" I never called you any such thing I do not name call.. "

The point I was trying to make was that, just because I am against Perry, or Romney, does not make someone a liberal, or from the Democrat Underground web site.

When Ronald Reagan switched political parties ? he could be believed that he was sincere in his conservative principles.

As far as Mitt Romney and Rick Perry ? Not only I , but many people don't trust them, sorry....

I just don't trust Mitt Romney or Rick Perry.

As I said, I was going to vote for Sarah Palin, but, she decided not to run, so ? now what ? what to do now ? I was ready not to vote next year.... but, the more I look at Herman Cain, and the more they attack him, I feel compelled to vote for him.
