Perry Claims He Can Secure Border in One Year as President
Fox ^ | November 3, 2011 | Hannity interviews Gov. Rick Perry

Posted on 11/03/2011 8:46:48 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

....PERRY: Well, let me just put it this way. The federal government's complete and absolute failure to secure our border put a lot of pressure on governors no matter where they might be to have to deal with issues. You are required to give health care, you are required to give education. And Texans made a decision -- are we going to kick these people to the side of the road and they are going to become tax wasters? Or are we going to require that they become citizens of the United States and become taxpayers? We chose the latter. I would still do that today, considering the barriers that if you will, the arena that we have to work in.

As the president of the United States, I am against the DREAM Act. I will shut that border down because I have had to deal with it for 10 years. I understand. I am putting Texas Rangers and National Guard, I am putting Texas citizens on the line over there, they are being fired at. Thank God none of them have been killed yet. But the fact is, I know how to secure that border. When I am the president, that border will be secure. And these issues that we have been forced to deal with as governors, will start being alleviated. And then we can have a decent, a thoughtful and economically focused conversation about immigration policy.

HANNITY: So you think you could secure the border in what period of time if you're president?

PERRY: I think you can do it within a year. I mean, seriously, within a year --

He knows he really screwed up when he made that “you don’t have a heart comment” and is trying to fix it.

I wrote his campaign the night it happened and said “you lost me on immigration”. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.

He already told Vincente Fox that he shared his desire for open borders.

What a flip flopper. I have heard Perry will say anything to win.

He could do it faster than that; just use executive order to overturn Posse Comitatus (why not, 0 is ruling by executive order now).

Bring home the troops from South Korea and Europe and re-deploy on the US border.

Before the flamage starts, this is a tongue-in-cheek suggestion. My primary point is how dangerously accustomed we’ve become to executive orders from the president overturning the law of the land.

It seems are positioned as Rome just before the imperial era.

Dysfunctional, corrupt republic? Check.

Bread (45 million on food stamps) and Circuses (NFL, MLB, TV)? Check.

Loss of Civic virtue and moral character in the people? Check.

Powerful nation at its zenith but crumbling foundational principles? Check.

I fear it’s a-coming. In particular, it seems that much of the population would go along because they prefer their material possessions and easy life over principles of liberty and government by consent.

I see increasing use of executive orders to continue to grow the power of the president until he (not just 0 but any president) is indistinguishable from Imperator.

I pray I’m wrong.

I'm sure that Obama didn't say these things to La Raza:

Gov Rick Perry spoke to LaRaza about the drug cartels, shared responsibility of border security and that it is Washington's responsibility to secure the border -- that the Federal government should support the military, deliver the mail and secure the border -- and they aren't doing their job. [HE RECEIVED a lot of applause] He spoke of the money Texas spends securing the border, that it must be sealed and then we can sustain legitimate commerce...He told about protecting the sanctity of the vote and strengthening our shared values, family, faith, hard work -- they are TEXAS values and we should unite as citizen's of one Nation under God and concentrate on what unites us. He told his Cuervo joke and they found it funny unlike the Liberal Latino Leaders Give Perry Lukewarm Response (or more likely they'd heard it before)

Perry is shallow, dillusional, and I think he has a drinking problem.
Did you see him last nite on Hannity?
I don’t object to his positions (except immigration) but he’s got the brain of a turnip.

Perhaps Perry could do it in a year. I have serious doubts that he would, however.

Why don’t you watch the video. You can continue to do hit and run jobs but people are starting to see through the lies. What Perry says makes sense and is the way to go after the problem. Shoot, you in California HAVE a fence and just this morning they pulled tones of people out of a tunnel that was running under it.

This clown has been governor for nearly a dozen f’n years, and suddenly, now that he’s running for POTUS he’s making noise and crying about this epic invasion?

What a sad joke on the American people.

easily done, if you have the funds

we have plenty of unemployed people.
draw up plans for wall sections.
see how many feet of wall a single crew could produce in 6 months.
determine the total number of crews required.
get it done

While giving all those caught in-state tuition?

Your nose must be as long as the 2000 mile U.S.-Mexico border.

He’s not against fencing, just the entire length of the border does not make sense and it does not. As to the instate tuition hubaloo, the votes in the TX House and Senate were 179 for, 4 against, or somesuch. Just saying.

Texas has been spending hundreds of millions of dollars of STATE money to secure an INTERNATIONAL border that the Fed refuse to seal. You've been told all the particulars before and how the Gov. has been ignored by Obama but still you persist in lying. Why?

Since Perry doesn't want a fence in the whole area, I think I have a viable solution.

With a 2,000 mile border, 400 military outpost manned with no fewer that 20 troops at any given time. Constant patrol and the authority to actually shoot.
