(Reuters) - A woman who accused Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain of sexual harassment on Thursday offered a statement telling her side of the story, in a move that could further undermine his 2012 campaign.
Cain has been accused by at least three women of sexual harassment when he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the mid-1990s. The issue is dominating the race to decide a Republican challenger to face Democratic President Barack Obama in the November 2012 election.
One of the women said earlier this week that she wanted to talk publicly about accusations that Cain had sexually harassed her, but she has since changed her mind and wants to make a written statement through her lawyer.
The woman's lawyer, Joel Bennett, gave the statement to the restaurant group, said Sue Hensley, a spokeswoman for the restaurant association.
The trade group's lawyers were reviewing the statement to decide whether to lift a confidentiality agreement that she signed when she left the association. It is likely to conflict with Cain's version of events.
"We are currently reviewing the document, and we plan to respond tomorrow," said association spokeswoman Sue Hensley.
Details of the women's statement are likely to put further pressure on Cain, 65, a former pizza executive with no political experience who has headed polls of Republican contenders in recent weeks.

Boy, Rooters is all over it.
Once she identifies herself her hold on critical positions in the rest of her career is OVER.
It's one thing to be a drunk, and it's another thing to be known publicly as a drunk. Ask Dean Martin!
Her “statement” isn’t worth a bucket of warm spit. Release a copy of the actual claim and settlement or shut up.
Why should we give any credibility to a woman’s statement after 15 years, when she did not completely pursue the matter and settled for a cash payment. And now wants to ignore her agreement of confidentiality, probably so that she can make more money.
Our chain is so easy to yank.
She is just looking to make some bucks, and probably already got a payoff from the DNC to smear Cain.
I guess I’d rather be a drunk than someone of takes advantage of one...
I do believe that this came from the liberal Republican side of the aisle. It would not surprise me any in the least that it was indeed the Perry campaign or maybe even Tokyo Karl Rove in alliance with the RNC itself. A conservative black man sure is scaring the crap out of a lot of Good Old Boys crony network on and around the Hill. Until solid evidence is provided I will continue to support Herman Cain with even more vigor.
Reports are the woman was in her mid 20s when this occured, which would put her in her 40s now.
“And now wants to ignore her agreement of confidentiality, probably so that she can make more money.”
Isn’t that kind of like a prostitute?
Volare!
This “story” is such a pathetic joke..seriously NO ONE cares about this idiocy anymore. The media of course has nothing better to do because they all kiss Obama’s ass but is this it, the best they can get on Cain? Because if it is its pretty laughable
I would think that the “solid evidence” is that the organization chose to pay out at least $80,000 - not exactly petty cash.
This Joel Bennet, was he the original attorney? How did he get involved? someone so prominent with a “just a girl”?
How did she afford this prominent lawyer?
I give these alleged women -0% credibility until they step forward and identify themselves and offer solid evidence (and not just their unsubstantiated word) to support their allegations.Agreed 100% Ron.
A conservative black man sure is scaring the crap out of a lot of Good Old Boys crony network on and around the Hill. Until solid evidence is provided I will continue to support Herman Cain with even more vigor.
