Colleen Mathis impeached by Jan Brewer, Arizona Senate

Arizona’s redistricting process dissolved into chaos Tuesday night after state lawmakers voted to impeach the top official on the independent commission tasked with crafting the state’s congressional districts, throwing the once-in-a-decade line-drawing into legal limbo.

The 21-6 vote in the state Senate to remove Colleen Mathis, the chairwoman of the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission, marked a display of legislative power on the part of Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, who made a forceful push encouraging GOP lawmakers, who control the Senate, to impeach.

**SNIP**

Brewer argued that the process under Mathis had failed to meet the constitutional criteria that had been established when the commission was approved by voters more than a decade ago. The panel is composed of Mathis, a registered independent, two Republicans and two Democrats.

RATS are all pissed off about some registered independent. And a little late to the party -

DCCC Chairman suggests Jan Brewer should be impeached
“We will push every button, we will use every strategy, we will appeal to any fair court to redress this trampling of a fair and independent process," Israel declared. “Instead of impeaching the highly regarded, truly independent leader of that body, that Republicans and Democrats agreed upon, Gov. Brewer ought to think about impeaching herself.”

The commie ‘RATS don’t like Republicans in Arizona. Even with all of the illegal aliens living here, we still outnumber the bass turds.

She was trying to create a ‘safe’ district for libtards that resembled a ribbon all the way from Tucson to Flagstaff over 200 miles away. Gerrymandering to the max!

Colleen Mathis gave a pefect review for, and voted with the RATS on the panel to hire Strategic Telemetry to assist with the maps. Here is a blurb about the founder and principal of Strategic Telemetry.

Ken Strasma, president of Strategic Telemetry and the national target director for Obama's 2008 presidential campaign

Read into it what you want...

She was also splitting Cochise County (fiercely Conservative), mixing it with Tucson to dilute it.

She can keep Tucson, we’ll take Wilcox and Safford!

Andrei Cherny, chairman of the Arizona Democratic Party, called the impeachment vote “a historic abuse of power without parallel in modern American history.” Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1111/67408.html#ixzz1cqD86Oga

I think that Adnrei Cherny must be talking about the President of the United States “a historic abuse of power without parallel in modern American history.”

Otherwise, her comment makes no sense (unless she has a disordered mind and is a socialist Democrat).

That Jan Brewer has bigger balls than 90% of every pubbie senator in the congress today.

What a {wo}man, I love her/him.

My Governor [corbett} had a ball checking contest recently but found that some kid was shooting his BB gun and when he ran out of ammo, used what the governor had.

When they define rino, corbett is just one degree removed from that charge, but big and bold he is not.

I complain to my state senator and state congress critter on a regular basis, and they point to both the weakness of the eastern rino pubbies and while neither will name corbett, the lack of strong leadership, as the reason that PA is slopping around the edges, and the unions are still going full speed ahead.

My state senator is a woman {just about the size of Herman's wife} and the establishment hates her for being so pushy.

If the eastern senators could figure a way to get rid of her they would.

I really like her, I just wish I could clone her.

Jan Brewer and Sheriff Joe are doing the jobs that they are elected to do, unlike so many weak-kneed republican politicians.

My husband and I were at the redistricting meeting for South Mountain area. Kelly Townsend of the Greater Phoenix Tea Party stepped up to the mike and let it be known about the lack of integrity of the committee, for which she was soundly booed, but she remained undeterred and said that she was not saying these things to stir up the pot, but because she knew it was wrong and she cared about every Arizonan in the room.

Turns out she was right! Good on ya, Kelly!

I’ll also tell you that we had about 7 or 8 uniformed officers there to ‘keep the peace’, and when the booing commenced, the committee reminded us that the officers were there and that they would be used to control us if necessary....

Fun times....

“She split the city of Yuma to please Grijalva”

No, she split Yuma County in half. We wanted a Colorado River District that would have been made up of Yuma, La Paz, and Mojave counties. Instead Yuma County will be split for the 1st time while La Paz will remain split. The RATS couldn’t stomach the thought of the Cololrado River Corridor as a Conservative power player in AZ and national politics.

Splitting Yuma County was a good move for the RATS. It is the 3rd largest metro area in Az with Yuma, Somerton, San Luis and Welton all in close proximity to each other.
Yuma County is also heavily agricultural, and has a huge military community with the Marine Corps Air Station, and Yuma Army Proving Ground. Many Marines stay here after they retire(I did).
The Defense Industry employs thousands of Yuma County residents, with companies such as General Dynamics, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, AM General, Trax International, Oshkosh,Sikorsky, and ManTek.
Yuma County is deeply Conservative and had to be split to dilute our influence. There was no way the RATS were going to allow for the Colorado River District we fought for.

Neat strategy by the subcontractor.

Check out the resumes starting on page 25 -

The “Public Input Manager” is an (R) and the entire rest of the group are hard core (D). So put a face up in public meetings that has (R) qualifications, but have hard lefties doing the actual analysis work.

The ‘Independent’ is a Dem in sheep's clothing. They created 9 districts. 2 safely R and 2 safely D. There are 5 districts that are ‘competitive’. 4 of those 5 are majority D in Red State Arizona. This whole thing is BS! The district that includes Flagstaff, Fountain Hills and Yuma is the worst salamander/gerrymander that I have ever seen! Brewer is right to impeach the fake Independent. They held closed door meetings. This is supposed to be a bipartisan redistricting committee. NOT!
