Authorities and doctors are warning parents who want to avoid chicken pox vaccines for their children that a new mail-order scheme to share lollipops licked by children infected with the disease as a way to create immunity in their kids is not only unsafe but illegal...

Nope It's him
And his own website screams Crank from Crankville in the state of Cranky.
Then it makes no sense to vaccinate perfectly healthy people. Thank you.
Let me ask you another question.
Do you believe that a chickenpox vaccine should be made mandatory?
Wow, you’re right!!! He’s quite a guy!
I’m glad he’s gotten into the research side of all of this.
I am not saying that Shingles is a rare disease, just that it is less frequently seen, and usually much less severe - IF the exposure to the virus in youth is from a vaccine rather than from an actual bout of chicken pox.
A vaccine “booster” shot, to renew those dying off antibodies against the virus (some 45 years or so after initial exposure), will prevent Shingles via creation of new antibodies against the virus.
I think it’s wrong for unvaccinated people to put other people at risk, period. It used to be that public schools in some places would not allow a child to attend unless they were up to date on their vaccinations. If people want to keep their unvaccinated kids at home, that’s another thing—but keep them away from people they can harm.
>>I think its wrong for unvaccinated people to put other people at risk, period.<<
So should vaccinations be mandated by law?
Again, do you believe that the Chicken Pox vaccine should be made mandatory?
In the case of small pox - you find that it “makes no sense to vaccinate perfectly healthy people”?
What sense would there be in vaccinating someone already exposed, pray tell?
Because then they really won't get it again. 8^)
And I'm sure he will be the first to say that.
I’ll quote my earlier post.
“I believe vaccines should be restricted to illnesses that are:
1, lifethreatening.
2, with substantive protection factor.
Chickenpox fails on both counts.”
Smallpox is a virus with no carriers outside of people, and was thus, ideal for eradication through vaccination. It is also extremely virulent, so much so, that a 1/1000 death from it’s vaccination was considered to be an acceptable risk. That means out of 7 billion people vaccinated, you would see roughly 700 thousand people die.
Chicken pox, on the other hand, is not nearly so virulent. Most healthy people when infected do not die, and nor are they in any threat to die. This is why I believe that vaccination with respect to chicken pox is unnecessary.
He has done no research realting the vaccine to shingles. Do you really look at his page and trust anything he might say?
it makes no sense to vaccinate perfectly healthy people” BenKenobi
So now you amend, correct and otherwise make less abjectly ignorant your remark by saying that it DOES make sense to vaccinate perfectly healthy people for SOME diseases.
You do know that vaccines are SUPPOSED to work on healthy people, right?
You do know that vaccination against something you are already afflicted with is absolutely stupid, right?
You do know that giving a vaccine to a person already suffering from a disease is counterproductive, right?
>>Do you really look at his page and trust anything he might say?<<
About as much as I trust the FReepers flipping out about “Pox Parties” when the reference is a Facebook page with 218 members.
>>You do know that vaccination against something you are already afflicted with is absolutely stupid, right?<<
But don’t we give the shingles vaccine to those who had chickenpox? So isn’t the varicella zoster virus already active?
Yes, I know. More likely, you won't get shingles at all if you are vaccinated.
So no, the varicella zoster virus is NOT active in a person 60 years old who gets a “booster” vaccine to prevent shingles, it is dormant. And the purpose of the booster vaccine (or any “booster”) is to create more antibodies against the virus to KEEP IT dormant.
You are statistically incorrect. C-pox blinds, leads to shingles, etc. Downsides to the vaccine?
Do as you wish. I vaccinated my children. They still have two eyes, are perfect developmentally, and will never get shingles.
“So now you amend, correct”
I refer you to the EARLIER post, where I explained that I am in favour of vaccination of diseases that are life threatening and have an effective protection factor. I posted that one first. Go look, read up in the thread, and catch up with the discussion and then we can continue.
“otherwise make less abjectly ignorant”
Well, I’m waiting for someone to actually challenge what I posted. Calling me ignorant and refusing to address my argument is a waste of time on your part.
“your remark by saying that it DOES make sense to vaccinate perfectly healthy people for SOME diseases.”
I amended nothing. I posted the statement that diseases that are lifethreatening and have an effective protection factor ought to be vaccinated first. I assumed that people who are arguing with me, would actually read what I said, but apparently that presumption is unfounded.
“You do know that vaccines are SUPPOSED to work on healthy people, right?”
Arguing that chickenpox is fatal to people with immune compromised systems is not an argument that those who are healthy ought to be vaccinated against Chicken Pox. Quite the opposite in fact.
