Aren't there any number of anti-terrorism, environmental, and bio-hazard laws that could be used to send these people to prison for many years?

Doesn't every mailbox in the country bear a notice prohibiting, among other things, the sending via USPS of hazardous or infectious materials?

Man some people, fixated idiotically upon vaccines, will do all sorts of crazy things to facilitate their crazy delusions.

looked into groups forming on social media sites like Facebook that offer ways to get “natural immunity” from chicken pox by deliberately exposing children to the disease.

This is one case where the parents of the victims deserve just as much blame as the perpetrators. What idiot willingly lets his kid lick a lollipop that has been licked by a kid with chicken pox or some other disease? You would have to be the most incredibly stupid parent on the face of the earth to participate in this.

Back when I was a kid if as a child you had not yet had CP, a playdate would be arranged so the uninfected child would visit an infected child so you would be sure to catch it rather than get it as an adult.

I remember as a young kid people wanting to expose their young kids to mumps—because, I guess, it is better to have them at a young age. But this lollipop thing is seems very risky. Not to mention what other stuff you could get. Chicken pox is really something you don’t want to mess with—it could be very dangerous.

This didn’t go over too well in the South Park cartoon version either.

A lot of Freepers are all for it, despite evidence that it's a really bad idea. Different article, same general topic posted the other day: Genius Parents Are Organizing ‘Pox Parties’ on Facebook.

so now I have to get my mail irradiated because some jackwagon decided to buck the vaccination “conspiracy” and risk a mass spreading of a dangerous biological agent.

Like I tell my children all the time, life will be infinitely more complicated because of the actions of incompetent, thoughtless people.

As opposed to a chicken pox vaccine?

Very much so. I’d rather have my kids catch it through natural exposure than suffer from the vaccine.

This scheme, on the other hand, is just bad.

Thats not exactly what this is...your statement would indicate that its being done randomly. Apparently it is not. It seems that parents are networking with each other to have the infected items sent to their kids.

Some folks simply do not want to vaccinate their kids, especially for the relatively benign chicken pox. Pre 1995 there was no vaccine and the vast majority of those who contracted it did just fine.

Not saying I agree with that in any way. But its not randome mailings of infected materials.

This is right up there among the dumbest things I’ve ever read on FR that didn’t involve Lindsay Lohan or Joe Biden.

The reason that they now vaccinate for Chicken Pox is not really to prevent Chicken Pox, although that is a plus. Once you have C-Pox you always have it, like Malaria. And like Malaria, it comes back during periods of stress throughout your life. This is what Shingles is.

So you would prefere that they have C-Pox now and recurrent Shingles through their entire adult lives? Shingles is C-Pox. It never goes away, just dormant.
