Look at this weekend’s Halloween snowstorm. Headlines across the U.S.A. called it “historic.” Historic because it dumped record snowfall on at least 20 cities from Maryland to Maine. Historic because it was the most snow – and the earliest – in many areas since the end of the Civil War.
And we’re not talking mere tenths-of-an-inch here. This snowfall shattered the old records, it obliterated them.

I think the title is a little over-reaching.
What made THIS snowstorm so remarkable is that the leaves are still on the trees when the snowstorm occured. The snow stuck to the leaves. The weight of the snow-encrusted leaves caused large branches to break. The local utilities were somewhat negligent in their tree-trimming duties and many of these branches fell on power lines.
I grew up in Minnesota. Probably half of my Halloweens were done in several inches of snow. The difference between then and now is that the Minnesota trees were bare before any snow fell.
And the reason that the leaves were still on the trees in the northeast is because we had an unusually warm and wet August/September. Which is the opposite of an impending ice age.
The author goes on to discuss that mountain ice and snow did not melt last year as it has in the past. He points to increases in U.S. glaciers.
Pretty much the Polar Bears ARE the hunters. Cant’t eat them, their fur falls off the hide. Dang things are useless for bout anything but raising money for San Francisco wildlife organisations.
Around 1490 the Medieval Warm Period ended, and the Little Ice Age began, lasting until about 1850. Greenland had been settled by the Norsemen, and they all froze or starved to death when the ice set in and they couldn’t get out. I was taught in school in the 60’s that Eric the Red deceived his people into going there to die, because the scientists of the 60’s couldn’t accept that Greenland had once been truly green.
I have neighbors from Canada who just returned from spending the summer there. Said it was the coldest summer they’ve ever seen. The maximum high was 59 F (normally 70s and 80s). The glacier melt didn’t happen and the streams were dry.
One of my other neighbors is from Alaska, and spends her summers there, working. She just returned. Said she wore a jacket all summer. An Eskimo friend told her this has been the coldest winter and summer she and her people have ever seen.
May be something to this.
Just sprinkle the ice sheets with carbon.
If that fails, then Mexico is going to have the undocumented resident problem.
My local power company send me the bill every month.
As part of the bill, it graphs out how much did I use this month, how much did I use the same month but one year ago, what the average daily temps were, and what the average daily temps were last year.
It was a cooler-than-normal year here in the Seattle area.
And NOT just a little bit!
For about four of the months earlier this year, March, Apr, May, I forget exactly, but the average temps weren’t like 2 or 3 degrees less than average - THEY WERE 8 DEGREES LESS THAN AVERAGE!
That’s like the weather on Ganymede or something!!!
We usually get a shot this time of year too. We laugh and call it Halloween weather. Luckily, this year’s snow missed Halloween and the little guys had good weather.
No, Mexico will put up a Sheriff Bart sign saying Keep Out, and Obama will deploy the entire U.S. military to enforce it. We’d better find a way to delay the ice age until we get a change of administration.
This is the 20th anniversary of the Great Halloween Blizzard of 1991. Dropped three feet of snow on most of Mn and Western Ws. After three days I literally had to shovel a tunnel to get into the office.
A few years later went trick or treating with my kids in shorts.

Not wise to extrapolate to far into the future based on one event.
My mistake. You are absolutely right. Ice ages last 100,000 years or more. And they are lot harder on the precious “biosphere” than are periods of warming. Any scientist who wasn’t whoring his opinions to the commies would readily confirm that fact.
Earth is not a nice place and if you look real good at the Antarctic ice core data and the evaluations of the severity of the last half dozen in terms of the amount of debris they dropped offshore you can see the condition is getting worse!
We have 7 billion now ~ 100 years from now we could have 700.
Four years ago my wife and I went to Niagara Falls in late October. I expected the weather to be chilly at best but I was amazed to find myself standing on the Canadian side looking at the falls and dripping sweat! There were roses in bloom as well as many other flowers. Reports on the television said that it was the warmest fall weather in that area since WWI.
