So much has been said about government waste and abuse. But what about the companies that participate in these kind of things?
Freepers seem to be the best researchers out there, let's look at some of them.
Who know about Fluor, CH2M HILL, SHAW and yes, the dreaded Halliburton.
Are they evil?
Why?
Is it really abusive to be demanding, in most cases?
Remember when Halliburton was evil, evil of coarse only when we had Bush sr and Bush jr in office, Clinton and Obama’s dealings with Halliburton are angelic in comparison!
See? Even the left believes in redemption.
Always is.
The difference between gov’t waste and corporate waste is that the gov’t uses taxpayer money......corporations use their own money.
I see on another threat on Solyndra you wrote:
"Obama isnt the only one who needs to be investigated, companies like CH2M HILL and R&S made lots of money off this deal.
I like that little slight of hand there in Evergolightly’s quote “...companies like...” the named villians without ever saying precisely who these companies are supposed to be.
Would I be wrong to say that this is dishonest? And I also note that there isn’t really any wrongdoing alleged... just that some companies made “lots” of money.
This “Evergolightly” character ought to be ashamed of engaging in such shenanigans.
I worked with CH2M Hill at Optisolar, a Fremont based PV solar company that folded shortly after the GM bailout and O’bummer’s ascension. We hired them as consultants for the production line code and I found that their programming practices were such that they produced unreadable code so that any change would require their re-hiring to make things right. Scummy, but probably not unethical. Doesn’t make my short list to rehire though.
You’ve been around here for 6 or 7 weeks, and are spouting off like a occupier.
I don’t think you will find too many willing to bite down on your smelly bait.
dont mind the plethoras of corruption by DNC and rINO. Herman Cain sex allegaytions is whassup. I know it cuz HLN etiquette media whore told me. (sarc off
The government abuses soldiers who then seek a job at those companies as an out. Getting rid of these companies would enslave our soldiers because the rest do not care.
The difference between govt waste and corporate waste is that the govt uses taxpayer money......corporations use their own money.
Unless they are working for the government. It’s still taxpayer’s money and yes it’s evil.
corporations use their own money.
Corporations use the shareholder’s money which if wasted or misused would heve to be considered stealing.
I smell a progressive agenda.

In my other life we once used Halliburton for a sub contractor on a small chemical cleaning job and they did a great job. The civil service person that wrote the specs and procedures had it all goofed up and when we requested a conference for clarification she totally showed her ignorance. She began by saying she had a degree in chemistry from a well known traditionally black university and proceeded as if though we had just fell off the turnip truck. She was going by appearances and we were all dressed in work clothes. The little non discript fellow that was Halliburtons on site manager began by saying he had a masters in chemical engineering from an Ivy league school and my project manager was a registered PE and a graduate of MIT. The following few minutes really made her look bad in front of her boss and fellow workers. It ended up with a change order to the contract that actually saved the government time and money.
You are basically saying it is illegal to be a contractor.
You are basically saying it is evil to acquire skills needed by others to get a manufacturing up and running. You are basically saying that people with the skills necessary to create a manufacturing plant are evil.
You are basically full of it
No. If shareholder's money is wasted or misused in the sense of being poorly spent, it is bad stewardship, not stealing. If shareholder's money is embezzled or stolen, that is stealing.
Unlike government, corporations can fire people that waste and misuse money, and do so. People who are caught stealing money in the private sector are prosecuted, and generally punished, while those in the government sector get "censured" or receive a stern reprimand.
I too worked for CH2M overseas.
Their spending/procurement practices are abysmal.
Management back in Denver could not understand why we put in so many requests for things we should have had such as software, computer equipment, support for travel arrangements etc.
Not a good company to work for unless you have a nice comfy office back in the states insulated from the world.
I didn’t work for CH2M. We (Optisolar) had hired them to write production code for our manufacturing line. They had some really smart people working for them but I believe that their programming practices deliberately obscured how their code worked so that their customers would be forced to rehire them in the future. Scummy but probably not unethical.
