Charles Krauthammer Sternly Advises Herman Cain To Stop Accusing People Of Setting Him Up
MEDIAITE ^ | 11/09/2011 | Frances Martel

With the possibility of making it to a primary increasingly slim for Herman Cain as he faces a number of sexual harassment accusations, Charles Krauthammer visited Bill O’Reilly tonight to give a review of his press conference.

Krauthammer was impressed with Cain’s “high wire act” but warned him that he had made one mistake that had surfaced before– accusing the Democrats of having something to do with the story surfacing, after his chief of staff previously accused the Perry campaign of the same. Krauthammer noted that he did believe Cain could survive, “but it won’t be easy.” In today’s “high wire act,” Krauthammer argued Cain “crossed a wire just about intact,” but for him to “blindly blame it on the Democratic machine” did him no good: “you can’t go around making charges if you don’t know they’re true or not.”

O’Reilly agreed, noting there was a lot against Cain, including CNN (which he called “the Cain Network now over there”) and the establishment Republicans, who “weren’t on his side to begin with.” Despite that, Krauthammer argued, “the establishment Republicans aren’t behind this,” and warned Cain should “stop throwing out accusations.” He also advised voters to keep the presumption of innocence, though O’Reilly didn’t believe this was possible: “we live in a country where judgments are based on nothing and people are destroyed,” he concluded.

I love Cain, but Krauthammer has a point.

Cain needs to avoid traps.
Even if Cain is right, the evidence of any connection to the DNC has certainly been swept clean. Take, for example, the birth certificate issue.

However, in opposition to Krauthammer, I don’t view the accusation that Cain has made as a serious blunder, provided that Cain doesn’t mention it further (unless he has solid proof).

He started by blaming Perry, then maybe Romney, now Democrats. Get the proof, THEN lay the blame!

Agree.

When someone seems to be grabbing names out of the air to hurl unsubstantiated blame at for their situation, that says more about their situation than about the one(s) being blamed.

I think Cain needs to stop accusing without proof, too. It is interesting the one person he gives a pass is Romney.

So is Krauthammer saying that nobody is behind this campaign? My bet is on stuffy, imperious RINO’s.

I do find it bizarre the the media comes out and runs with unconfirmed reports and accusations all the time.

The double standard at work again. When they screw up, they rarely retract where it is firm and noticable. They bury it on page 20 or make a brief statement. A lot of the times the “news” they spew is an outright lie or disinformation.

Do they care or apologize for anything? Nope, they just forget about it. They claim the high road for themselves.

Then they move on down the road.

The average person knows the media is always working against them, so, they try to find out for themselves. Sometimes it works out great, other times they may make a mistake.

And when they do...wow...they are considered reckless and incompetent and not too bright.

Another what a joke moment.

Chuck...I don’t believe Herman needs to be taking any advice from a Democrat.

Krauthammer has been irritable ever since his boss Walter Mondale failed to defeat Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Kind of wish some people here could handle an ounce of constructive criticism. It's frickin' ridiculous. Sycophant City! I think Cain did a great job with his press conference, and the ONE area that he could have done better was in accusing the democrat machine. Block just got off the circuit demanding an apology from Perry.

You don't defend unproven allegations by making unproven allegations. It was a dumb mistake. If you are totally blind to this, you may need to step back from the light. I think Cain is doing a surprisingly good job, but that doesn't mean he is infallible.

If Cain sought Krauthammer’s advice he never would have run for president. Maybe Krauthammer thinks Cain should stop blaming Rats because he knows the GOP is setting him up.

This really is fascinating. The conventional Rebubs, whose conventionalism (cowardice) allowed a free people to become slaves, are trying to tell Cain to do what they’ve always done. Trying to be civil, compassionate, just to the right, saying things like, “My good friend Nancy” and “I hope President-elect Obama succeeds” is viewed by OUR ENEMIES and the American people as weakness, having no conviction.

So Krauthammer hasn’t learned a thing. He and all the other establishment R’s only know one thing, that’s being in the minority. They don’t realize there really are people OUT HERE who are just a few grievances short storming their castle and stringing them up. We’re tired of civility with people who are traitors. We’re tired of Bush and Romney and Perry who see this as SEC vs Big 12. This is good vs evil.

I don’t know who started this, but Team Obama is happy to accept the handoff to a handy Chicago stooge.

Charles makes a point, especially about Perry...but WHO CAN DENY THAT THE MEDIA IS A DEMOCRAT MACHINE?

No one with a functioning medulla oblongota. Hell, there are populations of sea algae that know the media is in the tank, eager to fellate Hussein.
