Over the last 80 years, what “emergency” have we had in the USA that a national announcement from the president would have made better? I can’t think of any. Emergencies and disasters are local and any warning system should address that (Stafford Act comes to mind”.

I think what this will turn into is region-wide Amber Alerts or other BOLO type messages, gradually morphing into Federal PSA announcements about seat belts, smoking, and food safety.

This isn't good. I am seeing at least 12 tanks and armored personal carriers’ and many troops in our downtown area. They are rounding people up it looks like.
