STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Mike McQueary, one of the central figures in the burgeoning child sex abuse scandal at Penn State, will remain receivers coach Saturday when the Nittany Lions play their final home game of the season.

Defensive coordinator Tom Bradley, who was appointed Penn State interim coach in the wake of a shakeup that has claimed the jobs of Joe Paterno and other university leaders, said Thursday it will be a "game-time decision" whether McQueary will coach from the sideline or the press box against No. 19 Nebraska.

It’s going to be an ugly scene on Saturday, the game should be cancelled...but hey, the game is going to get huge ratings for ABC/ESPN....just surprised they didn’t move the game to primetime.

I DO hope the commentators have been briefed NOT to overlionize Paterno.

He didn't put those 400+ wins together himself, yet he takes the credit. Likewise, the "flip side" -- as Chronicle columnist Scott Ostler points out -- is that he didn't put this scandal together...so he needs to shoulder the responsibility.

As Ostler says, he's the guy with the statue. Hence this scandal is Paterno's legacy.

Ostler: ...there was no trial when Paterno was sainted, no jury declared him one of the noblest and finest college coaches of all time. The public decided. It's the same deal on the flip side. We'll take the facts and form them into our personal legacy of Joe Paterno.

Penn State's Joe Paterno gets what he deserves

True, but Sandusky was a big part of a lot of those wins.

I am probably going to watch the game. I sort of think the Nebraska players are looking at each other and wondering what the Hell they are going in to this weekend.

Here is what everybody is suddenly focusing on now that they bagged their big game in Paterno:

Mike McQueary, the burly 28-year-old former Penn State quarterback, stumbled upon the naked old man Jerry Sandusky raping a 10-year-old child. McQueary says both of them locked eyes with him. The young boy likely thought, “Oh, thank God! I’m saved!” McQueary then backed away, left the building, and called his Dad. The NEXT DAY the two decided they should go tell Paterno.

Trust me, if Carrot Top the Coward shows his face on the Penn State sidelines at Beaver Stadium this Saturday, he will be putting himself at risk. “Ugly” doesn’t begin to cover it. McQueary is history. It is that simple.

But medicating is still a way of suppressing “male” behavior, just like beatings, right? So how is one worse or better than the other?

I don't waste my time on idiots.

The thing that I want to see (and if I spent ten minutes doing research, I could probably find it) is the “rules of reporting misconduct.”

Most organizations I’ve worked for have them. Nevertheless, this goes beyond the “proper procedure.”

Personally, I cannot for the life of me imagine how you could just walk by that and not go bananas on the old guy...but I guess that is just me.

By the way, check out Michael Smerconish's column in today's Philadelphia Inquirer if you can.

Thanks for the tip...took the time to read it...

For the rest of you...here's the conclusion of Smerconish's column:

...the situation that Mike McQueary encountered on that Friday night in 2002 seems akin to a passerby who witnesses the rape of a woman in an alley and chooses to walk past. The event he told the grand jury he witnessed was live and ongoing. If fact, he testified that he believed both Sandusky and the boy saw him when he witnessed the attack. I wonder what the young boy thought when McQueary did nothing. I wonder how that inaction may have scarred him. It would seem that an adult bore silent witness to subjugation, manipulation, and coercion. And rather than take immediate action, he delayed, called a parent, and disregarded the immediate safety of a prepubescent boy. Shame, shame, shame.
Source: The Pulse: Why didn't the assistant coach who witnessed a 2002 sex assault intervene?

Btw...I think all of us who have an abortion clinic in our community have this same "shame, shame, shame"

We know murders are going on in there. We know, with any kind of checking, which days of the week and which hours they commit those killings. Yet we are cowards, too. We don't peacefully intervene. Most of us don't offer alternatives to those women going in.

So this is a microcosm of what goes on nationally with children at risk in the womb.

NO WAY does he show his face on the Penn State sidelines (or any other sidelines) ever again. Take that to the bank.

You may have already seen this...others haven't:

Penn State’s board of trustees have asked the university’s head football coach to keep Mike McQueary, the assistant coach at the center of a child sex scandal, off the field during Saturday’s nationally televised game against Nebraska, according to one of the trustees. The trustee told The (Allentown, Pa.) Morning Call in an exclusive interview that the board made the request out of concern for McQueary’s safety. The board does not plan to fire McQueary or ask him to step down, according to the trustee, who asked to remain anonymous because of the sensitive nature of the matter.

This means McQueary will be relegated to the pressbox...he'll get there very early...likely leave late...unless they have an easy way to escort him from there to the lockerroom post-game.
