Hello,
After twelve years, I am resurrecting a stereo component systen that has been dormant and in a cabinet. I need to purchase speakers, hopefully white. Do you have any recommendations?
I got the tuner to work, and the six disc cd player. The tape deck is working but wont speak to the tuner. My focus is speakers. they are the wire kind that connect up in the back with little red and black twisties.

How much do you want to spend
Bose are supposed to be pretty good but I can’t say how they connect to the stereo.
All depends on what you want to spend and the quality of the equipment you already have.
Not too much.
Cerwin-Vega speakers are great.
Think like a chicken, cheep but with quality...and feathers.
I see alot at the goodwill that are decent makes, Ebay?, I had my old kenwood speakers re-coned and aligned(45$ each) at “the speaker doctor” Here in charlotte, Sound awesome again..(were dryrotted around cones) he had alot of them for sale(all makes)...Got somebody like that in your area?
Post an ad on craigslist. You’d be amazed at the stuff that people will just give you to get rid of it.
Vintage Stereo question? Get thee immediately to www.audiokarma.org. Seriously, those guys are PASSIONATE about vintage stereo.
It's very subjective with audio equipment. My pride and joy college system of nearly 30 years ago was put together for around $1700, which was more than my car at the time was worth.
I should’ve added to my original post the sentence “and I should know, I’m one of them.”
Depending on where you live, Craigslist or the thrift store can be a real goldmine.

Yes they are...found a guy throwing a set away because of the dry rotted cone seals..I took them to “the speaker doc”..100$ later...Nothing but awesome.
I just got a new pair of woofers for my stereo from www.parts-express.com, they seem to have a pretty good selection.
If you’re even slightly worried about what color they are, just hop over to Best Buy or Crutchfield.com and buy whatever they have on sale.
Even my dad was impressed by them back then, at a time when men pushing 50 weren't exactly a target demographic. He bought a smaller pair of his own for his office.
Exactly, the ones I have are about 85#s..lol. I guess they didn`t want them to move from the vibration. lol. Only everything else in the house... ;)
I second the notion of www.partsexpress.com. If you want to do some of it yourself try re-coning the speakers (if that is needed).
Yes, audiokarma.org is the place where all these questions will be answered.
How many other Freepers are audiokarma members? See ya’ll there....
