I got the tuner to work, and the six disc cd player. The tape deck is working but wont speak to the tuner. My focus is speakers. they are the wire kind that connect up in the back with little red and black
How much do you want to spend
Bose are supposed to be pretty good but I can’t say how they connect to the stereo.
All depends on what you want to spend and the quality of the equipment you already have.
Cerwin-Vega speakers are great.
I see alot at the goodwill that are decent makes, Ebay?, I had my old kenwood speakers re-coned and aligned(45$ each) at “the speaker doctor” Here in charlotte, Sound awesome again..(were dryrotted around cones) he had alot of them for sale(all makes)...Got somebody like that in your area?
Post an ad on craigslist. You’d be amazed at the stuff that people will just give you to get rid of it.
Vintage Stereo question? Get thee immediately to www.audiokarma.org. Seriously, those guys are PASSIONATE about vintage stereo.
I just got a new pair of woofers for my stereo from www.parts-express.com, they seem to have a pretty good selection.
If you’re even slightly worried about what color they are, just hop over to Best Buy or Crutchfield.com and buy whatever they have on sale.
I second the notion of www.partsexpress.com. If you want to do some of it yourself try re-coning the speakers (if that is needed).
Bose
I am thinking you need to look for speaker repair shops, people bring em in to be fixed and don`t come back. And they buy them from people..also, you have a better chance of not buying something with a problem...

Dynaco A-25 speakers. Available on e-Bay.
Polks.
Nuff said.
If you want a nice pair of bookshelf speakers, look for a pair of Bose 301’s - Craigslist is a good source. Expect to pay anywhere from $75-$150 for those. Be sure to take the covers off and check the speaker surrounds - some models of these rot out over time. Sold mine when I found a pair of vintage Kindel floor speakers. If you “need” white cabinets, that might be problem....don’t see too many of those although IIRC Polk Audio makes some small ones in white. Crutchfield used to carry them.
And welcome back to the stereo world.

“I am resurrecting a stereo component systen t”
What brand? Model number? You should buy speakers that match up with your system.. No sense buying speakers that are , sorta,,, too good for your system, or not good enough, if you know what I mean. I’m strictly a tube stereo guy. Fisher 500-C in the living room.
I third or fourth going to Audiokarma and poking around. Good luck, Rock on.

I like my McIntosh speakers, but they aren’t cheap. Glad I bought mine while single. The ex couldn’t get her hands on them.
