Mitt Romney Will Win Iowa Caucus, Predicts GOP Insider
The Daily Beast ^ | 11/11/2011 | John Batchelor

Mitt Romney doesn’t generate enthusiasm from the conservative base, according to one GOP insider, but he’ll still take the upcoming Iowa caucus. The big winner, though, is Fox News.

“It’s gonna be Romney, and the party is miserable,” observed a Republican agent just back from the presidential contest in Iowa. “One day Bachmann, the next day Perry, then another day Cain, now Newt. The flavor of the day will pass. Why do many Fox contributors become candidates? It gets you in the debates and polls. But it doesn’t stick. Iowa is about paying an organization to show up. They are used to it. It’s an entitlement to Iowa. First in the nation means mercenaries, buying up the talent, then bringing the people you paid for to the caucus.”

With about seven weeks to go to the January 3 caucus in Iowa, I enjoyed my conversation with a shrewdly cynical professional who can explain what’s the matter with the Iowa primary, why we see such helter-skelter in the polling that swings from challenger to challenger while the Old Reliable Romney never goes down or up, just hangs onto his unshakeable twenty-something plateau.

“You gotta have money to get the people out,” continued my informant. “It’s a muscle caucus, not a message place. They are used to it. You need money to hire the guys who are well connected to make sure the right people get to the caucus night. It’s not a vote; it’s a paid event. Romney, having waited for the other candidates to blow each other or themselves up, he can buy himself a victory gradually and steadily.

Really?

Is that how Huckabee did it? Huckabee bought Iowa?

I thought Romney outspent Huckabee by millions and still lost.

Smacks of clueless left-wing establishment types trying to foster the notion that Romney is a fate de compli, so you rubes should just give up. You can tell who they want to win...

It’s nice of them to tell us what they are going to do to us.

Contrary to what this so called ‘insider’ thinks Romney is in no way a shoe in in Iowa. Iowans are very unhappy that he did not show up for the straw poll.

My money is on the OUTSIDER, I’m fed up with all these so called insiders, both DemoRAT and RINO. That’s how we got into this mess and they ain’t getting us out. And I’m pretty sure I’m not alone.

I’m as mad as Hell and I’m not going to take this insider guidance anymore.

I believe, an Iowegian should correct me, that this is just a straw poll and the party is not bound by it. Correct?

Cain is going to win Iowa at which point a ton of the other conservatives will drop raising his poll numbers by 10 to 15 points, and he will sweep most of the rest of the states except New Hampshire.

Yeah, GOP "insiders" are the fossils of tomorrow. The Tea Party election of 2010 taught them nothing.

I think the RINOs are chatting this up
to try and make it happen.

I hope and pray they are wrong.

The establishment RINOs have been all over TV and print proclaiming its a done deal.

You get Romney.

Some GOP pundit lady was on FOX this week dissing all the others and saying that by the time Iowa gets here, Romney wins.

If the sheeple don’t like it they will have to hold their noses.
