Franco Harris defends Paterno, McQueary, blasts trustees

Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back and Penn State alum Franco Harris blasted the school's Board of Trustees for its decision to fire Joe Paterno and defended Mike McQueary, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

"I feel that the board made a bad decision in letting Joe Paterno go," Harris told the Tribune-Review's Kevin Gorman. "I'm very disappointed in their decision. I thought they showed no courage, not to back someone who really needed it at the time. They were saying the football program under Joe was at fault.

"They really wouldn't give a reason. They're linking the football program to the scandal and, possibly, the cover-up. That's very disturbing to me.

I wonder why McQueary is still on the payroll. Whistleblower laws?

Maybe it wouldn't look so good to fire the most important witness to a crime before the trial occurs.

This "hearsay" discussion misses the point. Sure, people at Penn State were required to report up the chain of supervision. That is fine as long as the people in the upper chain of reporting clearly understand their responsibility under the law. The duty to report is imposed on the employees by the University, but it does not give them immunity from criminal prosecution, as some of them may soon find out.

Person A tells person B he witnessed a crime.

Person B tells person C that person A told him that he witnessed a crime.

Person C tells person D that Person B told him that person A told him he witnessed a crime.

Nothing excuses ANYONE in the chain of reporting from making sure that this was reported to the police. Neither a criminal jury nor a civil jury has to give a fig about "hearsay" as to the failure to report a rape of a young boy to the police. All they need to know is that the person before them had knowledge of a serious felony and didn't report it to the police.

Let’s see him say that to the face of one of the victims.

“It wasn’t MY responsibility.”

I think of the opportunity lost.

Had the police been brought in the next day, they could have started by viewing the security cameras...maybe a shot of the boy walking in/out of the building with him.

Take that image over to the second mile offices and start with the questions.

It shouldn’t have been all that difficult to find him quickly and get him to the hospital.

Funny how that one meeting didn’t take place FOR A WHOLE WEEK afterwards huh?

It’s almost like they really didn’t have any interest in finding the boy right?

I don’t study this that closely. It’s gross.

Was the 98 incident the faggot rape? If they were going to be weasels and not report it, he should at least been banned from all Penn State Campuses permanently

If that had happened, it would have been bad, but not as bad as what happened, which was allow him to continue faggot raping in their school.

And everybody in whatever chain or whatever let him stay around and continuing to faggot rape.

Do I have this right? He was caught twice? Same place? 4 years apart? Most recent 9 years ago?

Why did it take so long to get rid of this faggot rapist?

Sodom and Gomorrah. The students rioted in favor of Sodomy.

From Wikipedia
After the angels received the hospitality of Abraham and Sarah, his wife, God reveals to Abraham that he will destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, because their cry is great, “and because their sin is very grievous.”[Gen 18:20] In response, Abraham reverently inquires of God if he would spare the city if 50 righteous people were found in it, to which God agrees he would not destroy it for the sake of the righteous yet dwelling therein. Abraham then inquires of God for mercy at lower numbers (first 45, then 40, then 30, then 20, and finally at 10), with God agreeing each time.[Gen 18:22-33][21]

“Was the 98 incident the faggot rape?”

no. he was recorded on tape admitting he showered with a boy.
The boy didn’t say he was molested, and Sandusky didn’t admit to molesting the boy.
It seems that the prosecutor must have thought this evidence was not strong enough to bring charges.

Coincidentally...he “retired” the next year in the prime of his coaching career much to the confusion of many.
He didn’t even receive tempting offers from other programs to be their head coach. Funny that.

in 2002 he was witnessed raping a 10 year old boy.

the police were finally alerted to Sandusky’s activity in 2008 or 2009.
It wasn’t psu that notified them though, but rather officials from a high school where Sandusky was allowed to breeze in and have alone time with kids.
One of the kids finally told someone, and those adults had no problem getting on the phone to law enforcement.

The 98 incident was bad enough to remove him from Penn State permanently. Everybody that was involved in that 98 decision is guilty.

Paterno didn’t need to be fired, he needs to be prosecuted, and Franco Harris...I just lost respect for him.

“Paterno personally witnessed the incident? That’s a new allegation I haven’t heard before.”

Scotswife didn’t say that...educate yourself before saying something else stupid.

AND you a fool!! Sure, Paterno did the minimum necessary to cover his sorry arse by “following protocol” and allowed more young kids to be raped in the interim. He enabled a serial homosexual pedophile rapist for years and now you’re sticking up for him???? WTF

“”Re: “Actually, I have only seen four or five freepers who are pro boy rape in defense of materialism and idols.”

You will find zero Freepers who are pro boy rape.”

Very true, but I’ve seen several here who are too ready to excuse it because they’re ignorant of the law, are pu$$ies or are just terminally stupid and confuse legal procedures with moral responsibility. Lord, HELP US!!

Victim 4 remembers Sandusky being emotionally upset after a meeting with Joe Paterno in which Paterno told Sandusky he would not be the next head coach at Penn State and which preceded Sandusky’s retirement. Sandusky told victim 4 not to tell anyone about the meeting. That meeting occurred in May, 1999.

...Grand Jury report under victim 4

“”How many children were victimized for years because NO ONE STOOD UP AND ACTED LIKE A MAN?”

Were you aware that Joe Paterno was a literature major at Brown? One would assume that an Ivy League literature major is familiar with Edmund Burke, who said:
All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

If that is true, Brown should rescind its degree to Paterno due to his demonstrated ignorance and stupidity!
