I thought they showed no courage, not to back someone who really needed it at the time.

I'd guess that kid who got raped by Sandusky would say much the same about McQueary and Paterno. Anyone who wants to defend either man should seriously consider if their view would be the same if that kid had been their son or grandson or little brother.

McQueary was the only person in a position to defend the child by calling the police when the alleged rape happened. By the time he told Paterno, the victim was long gone, and you need a victim to prosecute a sex crime.

Others here have said Paterno could have kept Sandusky off campus. With what? He’d have had to give a reason and if he said, “I think he is a kiddie diddler,” well, he’d better be able to prove that in court unless he wants to get himself and Penn State sued for libel.

From what I read in the indictment, though, Sandusky would make a perfect UN Peacekeeper or Taliban member!

Game, Set, Match. Well said, exactly spot-on.

Enough with the histrionics. . .the media has already piled it high enough to cover Beaver Stadium. Joe is being railroaded and the press is INTENTIONALLY misrepresenting the timeline of events so as to make it appear that Joe Paterno is culpable. . which gives the story more sizzle, more ratings, more MONEY!!

The FIRST incident was in 1999. . at that time Joe notified the Administration and they brought in the police and it was investigated. The case was resolved with Sandusky "retiring" as coach. However, the administration allowed Sandusky to still have access to certain athletic facilities on campus. This WAS NOT PATERNO'S DECISION. . this was the school's decision. Then in 2002, coach McQuery is a witness to Sandusky molesting a second boy. AT THIS TIME, MCQUERY SHOULD HAVE INTERVENED AND PROTECTED THE BOY FROM SANDUSKY. . he did not, and for this he deserves to be criticized. It was AFTER THE FACT that McQueary informs, first his father and THEN, Paterno. At that time, Paterno notifies the school administration of this second event. Joe DOES THE RIGHT THING!. . .now the people are confusing Joe with what McQueary did. Joe was not in a position to help the boy OR TO NOTIFY THE POLICE. . .you don't notify the police because somebody told you a crime took place. . .THAT'S LUDICROUS! Joe did the right thing by notifying the administration. Sandusky WAS NO LONGER A COACH WITH PATERNO. It was the school's responsibility to deal with this problem. Joe did his part.

It saddens me that such a fine man as Joe Paterno, a man of impeccable character, a leader of men, an icon of how to do it right, who graduated more student-athletes than just about any other coach, a man who literally brought millions of dollars to help build Penn State as one of the finest institutions of higher learning in the nation. . .is just striped to the bone in an instant JUST TO SATISFY THE INSATIABLE MEDIA LUSTING FOR MORE RATINGS. HOW SAD FOR JOE PATERNO and for America.

Paterno's not the criminal. . Sandusky IS. . .LETS DIRECT OUR WRATH WHERE IT BELONGS. . .ON THE FRIGGEN CRIMINAL. . .

That's all that needs to be said on this issue.

The rest is BS. Including from the hot-shot celebrity Harris.

He can probably pick up the phone and get any number of hollywood celebs to join in the defense child-rapists. That ought to be easy.
