After Penn State Scandal, The Citadel Details Abuse Allegation

(CNN) -- With many focused on the Penn State child sex abuse scandal, a South Carolina military college said Saturday it regrets not pursuing an allegation against a camp counselor further than it did.

The Citadel released details on one of its alumni, Louis Neal "Skip" ReVille, who faces charges including criminal sexual conduct with a child.

In 2007, the college received an allegation that five years earlier, ReVille invited two campers at The Citadel Summer Camp into his room to watch pornography. They did not touch each other, but engaged in sexual activity, the college said.

"Though the general counsel was unable to corroborate the accusation, the college continued its investigation with the camper's family, who made it clear they were very concerned about maintaining their privacy and not having their names publicized.

"Despite the concerns of the family, whose right to privacy was foremost on our minds, we regret that we did not pursue this matter further," Citadel President Lt. Gen John. W. Rosa and Doug Snyder, chairman of The Citadel Board of Visitors, wrote in a statement.

The Citadel, in Charleston, South Carolina, said a review of ReVille's records at the time revealed no other complaints, and his file included a clean background check. He was a highly respected cadet and denied the accusation, the college said.

This should not be surprising, when our entire PC MSM entertainment industry is in the business of “grooming” children to be receptive to overtures for homosexual sex.

What do you think is the point of “Glee” etc etc etc?

To groom children, so that when they go off to Predatory Sodomite U, they will be putty in the hands of their homosexual profs and coaches.

Seem to recall, back during clintoon presidency, there were allegations of the clintoon administration providing children to some representatives of summits for entertainment purposes and to sway those representatives to be more receptive to certain proposals. Nothing came of the allegations and life went on and the misconduct continued as is apparent from new and recent reports. Due to there now being government officials now coming forward to condemn and to say things which prove the abuse of children, by predators, is a problem, is there an ongoing cover-up occurring which particular persons (in D.C.) are privy to which would expose some former and current persons of D.C., having engaged in child abuse and promotion of child rape, therefore attention is being focused in certain locations to eliminate scrutiny of a problem greater than those who should be uncovering but desire to keep covered up, for obvious reasons, while the victims of the abuse have only a small voice to no voice as the abuse continues? Probably is the case with the track record and the goading which was necessary to force investigations.

One known instance of sexual contact with a minor child and he’s been charged, no longer associated with The Citadel’s football camps. Details were released in the wake of the PSU travesty out of a desire to avoid even the appearance of impropriety, despite nondisclosure of details being maintained at the behest of the families of the two minors who desired to keep the matter private. Their identities remain undisclosed.

Compare and contrast to PSU, allegations and investigations going back thirteen years or more, with a coach known to have proclivities toward young boys, taking them along with the team to bowl games, allowed to bring them on campus to sports facilities after hours ... no comparison.

One represents prosecution and disassociation after one incident. The other represents complicity with a wink and a nod.

There is no equivalence between these two institutions and how inappropriate sexual contact with a minor was handled.

+1

I never had a television until my wife was pregnant with our first.
I was only able to tolerate having it around for five years.

Why is a story about abuses at two secular institutions in the Religion Forum?

I object to having this story in the RF.

Not a RF topic.

Was the guy charged and reported? (Sounds like he was). Was he fired?

Different set of parameters, but good for illustration.

As an aside, Penn State will probably get out of criminal charges. The foot ball team is a different corporate body than the university, so that is going to be the defense. A few coaches that I know (who support JoPa) have been talking about this, and saying it is the “Catholic defense” and something that they as coaches have been trained on.

Separate corporate identity, separate liability. Now I don't know how the Penn. law is, but that is the case in many other schools.

The horrors of the sin of homosexuality continue to manifest themselves as it becomes more and more mainstreamed.

Probably with irrationality and flat-out lies as has been the case with most threads involving the Penn State scandal.

"Probably with irrationality and flat-out lies as has been the case with most threads involving the Penn State scandal."

Let's see it "the usual suspects" will be willing to come out from behind the religion moderator's skirts to discuss this subject where their lies and motives can be honestly discussed.

Confirms what I always thought about the Citadel. ;)

I haven’t followed the usual suspects lately, but I’m sure they have gone out of their way to compare the Penn State scandal to the Catholic Church’s scandals.

Did they also try to make Paterno being Catholic relevant to the story?

"Did they also try to make Paterno being Catholic relevant to the story?"

If you research the so-called "Immorality Trials" conducted by the Nazi's to slander and discredit the Church with the intention of removing it as a moral obstacle to the Nazi agenda you will find an eerie similarity to what is being conducted daily on these threads.

There was a very real effort to form a word association in the mind of the German people and to forever link priest to pedophile and Catholic to immorality. Repetition over a long period of time was key in Goebbels campaign as was stretching to associate any scandal, real or fabricated to the Church. Ask yourself who does that on these threads and you will see who the "usual suspects" are. It is apparent that the ambitions of the Reich did not die in a bunker in Berlin.
