Ex-PSU Grad Assistant Matt Paknis On WFAN: Paterno Knows Everything
CBS New York ^ | 16 Nov 11 | unattributed

Posted on 11/16/2011 11:51:29 AM PST by LSUfan

A former child-abuse victim himself, former football grad assistant Matt Paknis believes Joe Paterno knew about Jerry Sandusky’s alleged sexual abuse against children years ago.

Paknis joined WFAN’s Mike Francesa on Tuesday to talk about his time at Penn State.

Paknis was a graduate assistant on the Nittany Lions football staff in 1987 and 1988. He says Sandusky exhibited questionable behavior towards the players back then.

He is using the M Jackson defense.

Yeth, I slept in the same bed with all those young boys but it didn’t mean anything.

Also, in the same vein, how may willing parents turned their young lads over to Sandusky, much like those did with Jackson???

Sandusky founded a ‘charity’ to help “troubled young men” - I can say with near certainty that the vast majority of these did not have parents in the plural.

One thing I have heard, but not expounded upon, is that most if not all of Sandusky’s victims were minorities.

Perhaps that contributed to the attitude around Happy Valley of ‘that is just ol’ Jerry’.

It wasn't like he was raping anybody anyone cared about - not local boys - or a minority who could run a pattern for PennState - just another “troubled youth”.

Let’s allow the legal process to proceed before we convict.

Absolutely. I mean, the courts found OJ innocent, didn't they?

EVENING OF EXCELLENCE - SECOND MILE AND PATERNO SHARE SALUTE
Lancaster New Era (PA) - Thursday, March 20, 1997
Author: GREG GRASA
HERSHEY - It was billed as “A Celebration of Excellence,” a special evening honoring Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno.

But Paterno himself was the first to point out that this night really was a salute to his assistant, Jerry Sandusky , and The Second Mile organization that Sandusky founded nearly 20 years ago.

“It should be a tribute to Jerry Sandusky and the volunteers in The Second Mile,” Paterno said of his defensive coordinator, who has been an assistant coach for 29 of Paterno’s 31 seasons as head coach. “These are special people, it’s a special project and I just feel privileged to be a part of it tonight.”

A crowd of about 600 filled the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center’s main banquet room Wednesday night to honor Paterno and support a noble endeavor. The Second Mile is a charitable organization that gives disadvantaged youth a second chance. More than 105,000 children across Pennsylvania are currently benefiting from the organization’s network of eight prevention, early-intervention and community-based programs.

“In the environment we’re in right now, Jerry and The Second Mile really prophesied what was going to have to happen with welfare - helping people without having the federal government or the state necessarily do it,” Paterno said. “That private sources could do it and could do it well. The Second Mile is a great example of what people can do who have leadership and who want to do it without a massive bureaucracy.”

Sandusky , whose organization grew out of his own experience as a foster parent, credited Paterno for allowing him the time to nurture The Second Mile and his extended family over the years.

“The Second Mile owes a lot to the Penn State football program and Joe Paterno, who allowed me to divert some of my attention to establishing our organization,” Sandusky said. “I don’t believe there is another major football program in the country in which that could have happened.”

In light of that, Wednesday’s event was an appreciation of both Paterno and The Second Mile. Gov. Tom Ridge and Republican state Sens. Robert Jubelirer and David Brightbill headed a list of luminaries in attendance, which also included a Who’s Who of Penn State athletics.

Bush honors state group as “Daily Point of Light ‘
Patriot-News, The (Harrisburg, PA) - Wednesday, November 7, 1990
Author: Frank Cozzoli, Patriot News
Jerry Sandusky was saving kids from falling through society’s cracks long before President Bush used his “Thousand Points of Light “ slogan during his campaign for the White House.

Yesterday, the President honored Sandusky and the 500 volunteers of the Second Mile as a “Daily Point of Light “ in recognition of a program that has given thousands of Pennsylvania teen-agers a second chance at success.

PATERNO SAYS HIS SPEECH AT GOP CONVENTION IS NO BIG DEAL
Philadelphia Inquirer, The (PA) - Tuesday, August 16, 1988
Author: Robert Zausner, Inquirer Harrisburg Bureau
Joe Paterno ended more than a week of silence yesterday about the controversy over his speech for George Bush at the Republican National Convention by saying it’s not really a big deal.

“I was asked if I would do something by a guy I like very much, a guy I respect very much, and I’m doing it. Period,” said the Penn State football coach, who is scheduled to give the seconding speech for Bush tomorrow night.

“I thought it would be an honor for me, an honor for Penn State and an honor for the state of Pennsylvania,” he said, “and I’m a little bit surprised at the reaction. I didn’t think it was that big a deal, to be frank with you.”

PATERNO WILL TRY TO GIVE BOOST TO BUSH ‘S CAMPAIGN
York Daily Record (PA) - Wednesday, September 23, 1992
Author: TOM ADAMS Daily Record staff writer
President George Bush is calling on an old friend to help him win over the people of Pennsylvania.

Bush is making a campaign stop in State College today, and he’ll be announced by Penn State football coach Joe Paterno .

It will be the second time that Paterno has introduced Bush during a trip to the Penn State campus. The first was in 1980, during Bush ‘s unsuccessful campaign against Ronald Reagan for the Republican nomination.

“I consider it an honor anytime somebody introduces the president of the United States,” Paterno said Tuesday. “I’m not asking everybody to agree with everything he’s done or what he wants to do, but I still think it’s a great honor for me. I was pleased that they asked me.”

In 1988, after Bush won the nomination, Paterno was asked to second the nomination at the Republican National Convention.

“He’s somebody that I’ve gotten to know and like very much,” Paterno said. “He’s been very interested in my family. He’s written to my boy, Jay, who’s a graduate student at Virginia. He’s dropped me notes. He’s called me at different times to ask me how things are going. He’s a person I enjoy being around and that I admire very much.”

Why did Joe Paterno keep coaching 20 years past the normal age of retirement? Nobodies asking the right questions. Was the reason the Coach stayed at PSU somehow related to pedophia? There's a whole network of Pederasts lined up to support and worship homo-eroticism there in Happy Vally. They can't bully and bugger the huge, beautiful fully grown men on the Football team, but they could manipulate and dominate the poor little boys of Second Mile and Sandusky.

We need the death penalty for this un-Godly scum.

Actually McQueary is fudging on the use of words.

He admits he took no physical action to stop the attack, so it would be more accurate to say that the attack stopped because Sandusky saw him.

McQueary did not leave with the boy but left him in Sandusky's hands, so what McQueary did was still despicable and he is still whining as if he is the victim!

Now, if he told the police, there should be some kind of police report on that.

The property transfer smells to high heaven. There is legal precedent for voiding such asset transfers in cases of pending civil or criminal litigation. I’m not familiar with PA law, though.

But the thought just occurred to me, will one of these guys get a “deal”, in order to convict someone else?

Sandusky's attorney told NBC news this week that even though prosecutors claim they haven't found the victim in this case, Sandusky's defense team talked to him and he denies that anything wrong happened in that shower. Yeah, right.

Lawyer: "You say anything about it happening and we'll make sure your name is all over the front page of every PA newspaper."

FREEPERS (because we are so smart): IOW, Jerry remembers the name of the young boy. In fact, Jerry probably remembers every single name and the details that go with each name.

Another question that someone raised, is why no asst. coaches ever leave Penn State to go on to coaching their own teams.

The interim coach has been there for 30 years!

Yet, football continues on at Penn State as if nothing happened.

Sandusky walks around a free man, as if nothing happened.

If that’s the case, two words: Death Sentence. For the Penn State football program, if not Sandusky.

Because current players should be punished for something an assistant coach, who retired 12 years ago, did. Current players have probably never heard of the guy...but lynch them anyway.

Kinda indicates that he had knowledge of his Sandusky’s activities.

He's going to be implicated no matter what happens so he's doing the wise thing and protecting his assets for his wife who had nothing to do with this scandal

If Paterno knew all these years and was afraid of lawsuits why did he wait until July of this year to protect his wife's assets? He could have done it years ago.

It looks like the administration knew about Sandusky for at least the last 14 years. The penalty should be no football scholarships for the next 14 seasons. Those students already there on a football scholarship will be have their agreements honored or be helped to transfer elsewhere, but no incoming students to get a football scholarship.
