The state Senate followed the House this morning in passing a transgender civil rights bill.
Unlike the House, where the bill drew vocal opposition, the Senate passed the bill by voice vote with only one speaker, the sponsor.
Governor Deval Patrick said Tuesday that he would sign it.
“Sure,” Patrick told reporters. “I think we have hate crimes on the books today. They, in the case of transgender people, don’t go far enough.”
The bill would protect transgender people in housing, credit, and the workplace, and would include transgender people under hate crimes protections.
Opponents have called the bill an invitation to lawsuits and a threat to small business. They have also said it was a distraction from working on economic initiatives.
Proponents dropped a section of the bill protecting transgender people’s right to public accommodation because it had caused opponents to label it the “bathroom bill,” raising fears that biological men would demand the right to enter women’s bathrooms and locker rooms.

transgender I presume they mean cross dressers, tranvestites etc.
So in MA it is alright to have mutilate your body like boobs or a penis getting cut off and they also think it’s now so normal that laws have to be done in this hard time.
Can all the few north east conservatives not the north east republicans move down to VA, NC, FL and make our states more red.
As for not all republicans , well it is the north east and many so called republicans have very liberal social views.
After the operation, he/she/whatever was a bitter and unhappy person.
The big thing I have come to know with the few people who practice unhealthy or deviant behavior, whether bigotry, sex-changes, or sodomy, or even a combination of any set of these things, is the fact that underneath the person’s behavior, there is a personal insecurity in the person, and a bad one at that. The person’s practicing the said behavior doesn’t address the insecurity, and therefore exacerbates it.
Well, the CDC’s studies on men with AIDS considers you to be a man when you are thirteen, YES you heard me, THIRTEEN YEARS OLD! I have never heard of considering a boy a man at that age, it’s implications are pretty disturbing, especially since you realize that the CDC is probably the last case so far.
