Second Mile Staffers Quit Over Penn State Sex Abuse Scandal

The outrage over the Penn State sex abuse scandal has spilled over into anger at the management of the Second Mile charity, prompting an exodus of some furious board members and volunteers.
The Second Mile, founded by accused child molester Jerry Sandusky, refused to say how many of its board members have resigned, although the group's former CEO Jack Raykowitz was forced to resign last week.
The anger has rippled out from its headquarters in State College. At least three members of the Second Mile's south central chapter in York, Pa., said they have quit in recent weeks over their outrage that Sandusky was allowed to still be involved with the organization although executives knew about sexual child abuse allegations against him.

More and more of this is going to come out. This organization was large and some very very influential and notworthy people belonged, donated, and were supported by it.
Who knew what when...and why wasn't Sandusky kicked out? A lot of people are going to want answers to those questions because their reputations are all wrapped up in it.
The usual crowd will be along any minute to blame me and the rest of the “pitchfork and torch carrying lynch mob” for these people leaving their positions.

Are you kidding me? They knew he had allegations against him yet allowed him contact with all those vulnerable boys? This makes me sick.
There should be such a charge such as accessory to child molestation. This is not an area to just be in denial about.
My husband and I very support athletics for disadvantaged kids and if I even got a whiff that any of those attending to the kids had the slightest anything against them I'd be right there dealing with it in the more stringent way to protect those kids.

If he spends a day in prison, it will surprise the hell out of me. For that matter, if he is convicted, I wil be surprised.
Yes, they should have suspended all youth contact with Sandusky pending the investigation. They also should have done reviews of all staff to make sure there were no other suspicious activities. And their policies regarding contact with kids should have been reviewed and tightened. Apparently, none of that was done.
Just an amazing coincidence that Second Mile records for that time period vanished?
